Hello,
I have been using CPAP for the last 6 months and have changed from a nasal pillows mask to a nasal mask. I have a deviated septum which obstructs my nose during different times of the night necessitating a change to a full face mask. I went to my CPAP supplier and the respiratory therapist recommended a Mirage Quattro. I tried it and like the full face mask except for that it causes a lot of nasal bridge pain and soreness. I have read other posts by others about adjusting it and I have been unsuccessful in doing so without having excessive leak, especially around the eyes. I have tried a Pada cheek which improves comfort but makes the leak worst.
So I am looking for suggestions for a new full face mask especially from others that have had similar issues. I have been thinking about the Ultra Mirage FFM given my mouth breathing.
Thank you for your help.

Try cutting a piece of mole skin and putting it across the sore spot it works. You can find it in the foot section in WalMart or any drug store.

Re: MIrage Quattro FFM hurts nose looking for new FFM
I will share what happened with me....
The FIRST FFM I got was the F&P 431, which I liked, but caused the same nosebridge issues. I tried other masks, but none were as comfortable or any better on the nosebridge.
What I did:
I loosened the mask for a few nights (didn't worry about leaks) to give the nosebridge a chance to start to heal. Then I treated the area with neosporin during the day to promote healing. I used a PLASTIC bandaid over the area at night to protect it from more irritation from the mask.
Once healed, I continued using a bandaid for a couple months, but also used an acne astringent on the area. What good it did I don't know, but my DME suggested I try it.
After a couple months, I went without a bandaid and found it was fine. The area "toughened" up during that two-month period where I could use the mask and it didn't hurt or cause problems.

1.) Did you double and triple check the mask size using the actual resmed sizing template?
2.) Did you watch the fitting video?
3.) What did your DME advise?
4.) The Ultra Mirage may help but it seems like its pretty close in design to the Quattro. So while its worth a shot you may be buying a very similar mask and may end up with the same issue. Make sure you can return it no questions asked.
The Quattro is the go to standard for FFMs, presently. Lots of DMEs provide them. For me the Quattro had been very comfortable, and, unlike the Amara, didn't hurt the bridge of my nose. The Quattro has a special cut-out at the nose bridge to try to stop that from happening (while the PR Amara does not).
Otherwise if you cant work with the Quattro or the Mirage there are plenty of great FFMs out there and lots of reviews on here.
Good luck!

#1 Print out the sizing guide from the link below and double check you have the correct mask size.
http://www.resmed.com/us/assets/documen ... mplate.pdf
#2 Follow the "taming of the Mirage quattro" guidance. Especially fitting the mask while laying down.... and if you are getting slight burps off the side of the cushion, try fitting it while laying on your side.
Sometimes having one side of the lower straps a little tighter than the opposite side solves the issue.
#3 wash your face with a facecloth with hot water..... it will remove excess facial oils that can allow leaks between the silicon cushion and your face.

Re: MIrage Quattro FFM hurts nose looking for new FFM
I did what was recommended. I downloaded the fitting guide template and it falls between medium and large and so I should be a medium. I have a medium and am still having this difficulty. I double checked the scale of the template and it was accurate so it appears by it I should be a medium. Is it worth trying a large or should I try a different FFM? I have a appointment with my DME tomorrow.

Re: MIrage Quattro FFM hurts nose looking for new FFM
I have tried both the Large and the Medium. I wouldn't bother going up to the large in your case as you'll probably have the same nose bridge problems but you'd also end up with more leaks..........just more real estate with the large to create leaks. I was miss fitted by my DME with the large and had lots of leak problems, so I checked the sizing myself with the template and found I really should be using a medium........when I went to the medium I had far less leaks but they both feel similar on the bridge of my nose, I am fortunate that Iwas able to get it adjusted so that I don't have a big problem with pain on my bridge anymore and a the leak problem is pretty much solved...........so from my experience I would not recomend going up to the large in your case if the template puts you in the medium area.
