encore pro software

Problem installing Encore Pro software on windows XP.
Has anyone done this?
I have intalled the software and I get the Encore icon on the desktop but cannot
complete the installlation because an unexpected " method of object " failed error occured in Encro Pro. I picked the change database connection as they advised and continued to the performance page and let the default "local" stay and hit OK, but it went back to the error page as it was unable to connect to specified data base. Also unable to get the Smartcard
reader/writer to install properly. However, I do get the manual on the pc. No icon on the desktop or device indication. I really appreciate any help.

Hi All,

This is a great question. If any of you have had experience in this department, please lend a hand.

I've installed the Encore Pro on 2 different XP systems - one running XP Home edition and one XP Pro. Didn't have a problem with either.
If the problem is with the defaul database, can't you specify a database for it to install into? I've done that with other programs - just find a dbase on the system that I can remember and don't mind putting other stuff in - ie, not something I really need and can't afford to get messed up. I've done that with a couple of other programs that had problems loading into the default dbase.

Anyone want to share their software? I don't want to buy it if it don't work for me. A copy is fine. I would help someone pay for theirs. Thanks, contact me if interested.

Don't think it will work for you unless you have the card reader and its software...

Had the same problem and did the following...

Go to my computer and explore the cd. You should see a folder labeled MDAC,
Go into this folder and setup MDAC.

Go back to explorer, you should see a folder for msde, try setup you might get an error message. Restart your machine. Now try to install again...

Once I did this the software installed ok.

Right now, I don't have either the software or the reader. I am not to sure if I want to try it if others are having problems with it. That was why I was asking about it. I don't know if it is a problem reading the information it displays or if it is helpful in understanding an individual case. I saw on the forum somewhere that one could purchase a reader from Walmart that would read it. Just learning about it.

You can NOT buy a reader from Walmart. The cards are SMART CARDS (Like the ones used in Satellite dish receivers) They have a chip embedded in the surface of the card that has a microprocessor and memory. You *might* be able to use a generic smart card reader/writer, but you would need both the Encore software and the software for the reader (pcmcia reader is an option also).

Once installed it is not difficult to figure out, but you have to remember it is geared toward clinical settings...

So, do you consider yours to be worth the $200 cost to you? Do you get enough information out of it to justify the cost? These are questions I don't know. I had the sleep test done twice, once for testing and the next for seeing what setting I needed. My recommended health care provider of the machine once they found out my insurance was out was of very little help. I never went back to the hospital that did the test. I think they said you could come back in 3 months and they would go over the procedures of the machine. Other than that, I've been on my own since then. I bought a machine here and am now getting another as backup.

Being a Programmer/Analyst by trade (read geek) I had to have the software. (heck I have software for reading my car ) But the big thing for me was to help with compliance. I never knew that I snored and it never bothered me, but if I can see a graph indicating how many times I avoided apneas, hyperapnea and for my wife snores. Worth $200? That is up to you... To me the machine shouldn't cost what it does (heck its a computerized air compressor!!) but that is the way it is. At least buying from cpap.com you will get the lowest price around with great service.

As for data, I couldn't tell you as I recvd my machine with the software today. ASk me tomorrow

Oh. so you just got your machine. I've been using mine about 3 years now, the bipap pro. My pro 2 is due Monday. Both have humidifiers. I am somwhat familiar with computers and build my own. Not necessarily the software as in programing. My wife said I snored and kept her awake. So, I stayed awake one night to see and I didn't snore at all. Maybe she lied to me? Anyway, the sleep study said I had apneas. I do sleep better with the machine and have probably grown dependent on it. I was curious if the software would be of help to me. Let me know after you use it some what you think of it. Not only the machine but the nasal mask. $100 for a little piece of plastic and a headband strap? No way Hosea. Maybe $10 at most. But what are you to do? There is no alternate that I know of. These machines elsewhere can be over twice to three times as much. It is not logical that one place can sell for half what another sells for. And you know, they are making a fat profit at the cheapest. Again, no alternate. I have a $100 new mask now that is to big, sure wish I could trade it in toward software. I was told because it is listed as medical supplies it catipults the price.
