Got my Wisp mask finally today...

Post by melindy » Mon Mar 04, 2013 3:59 pm

So excited to try it out tonight. I hate the mask I have currently- I don't know which I have now. It's a nasal mask that has a hard plastic piece that comes up onto my forehead that drives me insane. I really like the snap off feature that allows me to remove it easily to get up or something. Hoping it goes well!

I love my Wisp mask. I've had it a little over two weeks now and no complaints. Its comfy, allows me to read before going to sleep and no leaks. I use the medium mask that comes with it. The large was way too big, and my face was irritated in the morning. The medium is just right with minimal silicone touching my face. And, I too, like the easy snap off function if I have to get up during the night. Beats having to put the whole thing back on and readjust.

The DME people said I should start with the petite size. It seems to fit well, but I'm keeping the medium one as an option. I didn't think about the reading thing- I like to put on my mask before I start to get sleepy so I do like to read a little. Can't wait to try that tonight.

The petite was a tad too small for me...it squeezed my nose where the medium is perfect. Good luck with it, but I think you will like it. Its very comfortable. The headgear is comfortable as well, at least it is for me.

I did see that, I can see how that might be a problem with the design. Hoping it won't be though. To not have the plastic piece on my forehead is huge for my comfort level. I'm excited to try it tonight.

Good luck with it. I hope it works for you. I liked the design, how minimal it is. But I tried and tried and could not get used to it.

But the guy in the ad was just beaming!

The Wisp didn't make you too?

Also my snaps don't connect to fabric, they snap into silicone so I'm not sure if I'm thinking of the same part if the design that failed for the other person.

If the Wisp does not work well for you there is a similar mask you can try. The F&P Eson. It is slightly larger than the Wisp, and comes with a stabilizing forehead brace and an overhead strap. I use the Eason and am pleased with it. However, my DME is getting a Wisp for me to try, so I'm waiting to see if it is even better than the Eson.

I slept with the Wisp last night and I'm undecided. The DME person said I should use the petite size but I wasn't getting enough air so I switched to the small size. It took a while to adjust to it, I definitely loved the smaller profile of the mask and that I didn't have anything against my forehead.

However I felt like I had some leaks. I don't feel as rested today and my daily migraine I've had for a year is worse than the usual pain today. I don't know how long it takes to get used to a mask though...I feel like I was sleeping better with the other one I had. But I was having more issues with the plastic piece against the forehead and acne around the nosepiece.

So I just need to figure out which issue I can tweak more. Obviously going to give the wisp more than one night of a chance. The Eson looks interesting, I will check it out.
