Bloating solutions?

Post by Maxman190 » Mon Feb 11, 2013 5:03 am

Alright, so I sleep with 17/15 on my BiPap, I wake up with painful bloating... I burped and farted for a long time, but it only cures my bloating after a few hours, still painful during the meantime... I told the doctor and he suggests that lowering the pressure might help, so I reduced it to 16/14, it still made me bloated, so I tried 15/13, no bloating, BUT, I don't get a well rested sleep...

Anyone have any solution as to how I can keep 17/15 without bloating? My mouth doesn't feel dry when I wake up, so I don't think it's the air going into my mouth. I tried using a nasal mask only, but I keep waking up with a dry mouth and drool all over my face, so that isn't an answer... I even tried a chinstrap and tape, it didn't work.

Is it unusual that I have been having treatment for my apnea for several years and I still haven't felt days that made me feel "well-rested"?

I don't know if this solution will work for you;
but I found that sleeping on a bed wedge is what fixed it for me.

I use something similar to this (see below) but its a one piece and slightly larger

Wish I knew. I can't even approach your pressures without this happening to me, too. NO idea what the solution is.

Caveman, do you have a link to that wedge site?

I put a very expensive, full bed wedge under my mattress in the hopes it would help my aerophagia, which I was told is due to GERD, despite the fact that I have no GERD. I also went on Proton Pump Inhibitors (e.g., Nexium, Dexilant, etc.) for my nonexistent GERD that was purportedly causing my aerophagia. Neither helped. The wedge could help someone with GERD, and perhaps even help apnea a bit, but it didn't touch my aerophagia. YMMV.

Stand up, and tilt your head forward until your chin touches your chest. Remember this position.

Now, try to figure out how to adjust your pillows or whatever to keep your neck bent like this as you sleep. Try this to see if it reduces your aerophagia. It may not be good for your neck, but it may tell you something.

Lots of other people have fought aerophagia. Search the site.
