Heated Hose People?

Post by Lee Lee » Wed May 17, 2006 12:45 pm

May I ask a quesion of those who have the Aussie heated hose?
I can't take the rainout anymore, so I'm going to get off my wallet and order it.
I was wondering if the air you breathe feels heated, too. I like cool air much better.

How heated the air feels depends on the temprature of the humidifier.

It's probably never cool though.

It's pleasantly un-cold.

To me it does not feel cool but it does not feel heated. It feels pretty close to room temp.

I've had the heated hose for over a month now and it's the best thing out. The first time you you use it it will feel warm but you get use to it real quick. the best part is I now have my humidifier on max and if you do get a bit of rain out it's nice and warm. Pete

After a couple of weeks with the heated hose I think it should be standard equipment.

I keep my room pretty cool and have noticed that the air is warmer in the hose, probably from both the hose itself warming and being able to crank up the humidifier a bit. More humidity has eliminated the dry scratchy throat I had every morning on CPAP and I think has allowed me to use the Swift at all (it dried my nose to the point of cracking in just a couple days).

I think I read here a while back that someone used a lower voltage converter to enable a cooler hose that still was warm enough to reduce moisture for them. That may be a route for you or discussed with the vendor. They will get back to you if you have a question.

By looking at the pictures on the site indicated, it looks like the heating element is wrapped around the tube itself. How easy is this tube to clean? I like to submerse my tube in warm soapy water at least weekly. Is this possible with the heated hose?

Thanks for the info

No, you can only rinse it out and let it air dry or use the xPAP blower to dry it.

What i do is: hold the hose with both ends pointing up (the hose forms a "UA") and pour the soapy water (or water/vinegar solution) in but not fill the tube completely. Then I simply raise and lower each end until the water nears the end of the tube, repeat for a minute or two and then rinse out the hose and let air dry.
