new cushion night = smiles

Post by Denial Dave » Mon Feb 25, 2013 7:31 am

I've spent the past 2 weeks trying to make my cushion on my Quattro last longer than the usual 2 1/2 month interval.. High Pressure and Bi-pap flex the heck out of the cushion every night.

Saturday night was terrible....right after getting into bed, I had leaks everywhere, felt like the mask frame was pressing on my cheekbones,etc.....

Got out of bed, yanked the old cushion off and installed a new one.

Ah.. my mask is comfy again...

time to call the DME and restock my supplies...

Dave,
That's just the kick in the rear that I needed. My mask, not a Quattro, has been leaking every time I turn my head and the cushion probably needs to be replaced.
Making the call today.
A T

Mask replacement and cushion replacement are different with each mask. With mine, I could never get to my three months replacement because my head harness would stretch out, the velcro would wear out and the mask would start leaking around the temples. My current mask is four months old, and still works great. I guess it's a diamond in the rough. I guess we sometimes fight a mask issue and replacement is the answer.

Thanks for posting this Dave! My Quattro mask has just over 3 months of use. I tried boiling the mask last week but that didn't resolve the increase in leaks. Apparently the mask is just wore out... My pressure is also relatively high (15 to 18, median 16.5 cm) so perhaps three months will be my normal replacement period.

I once got lazy and didn't clean my mask for 3 weeks. I then cleaned it and started experiencing leaks again. Ahhhh! I guess I had it set just right with the velcro and the dirty cushion fitted just right, preventing all leaks.
