remstarpro pressure drop

Hello, I'm excited to know there is cpap talk! I have been a cpap user/surfer for a little over a year now. This is so cool! I just found this group today. So many great conversations. I have an issue that's been troubling me for about six months now. Maybe some of you can shed some light. I have been experiencing some of that dry-mouth that I have read others complain about, you-know, where the air escapes from my lips and dries out my mouth. I tried a chin strap, but hated it. I know I could try a better quality or different type, but the thing is, I just don't think I'll like it. I live in Dallas TX, so humidity is usually ok, I use a remstar pro with cflex. I adjust the humidty every so often due climatic changes that cause rainout...I have tried all the levels of cflex, dosn't seem to really make much difference, I like 1. I have taken to using tape or ace bandage to keep my mouth closed, hey works fine for me, but I know that isn't the solution I finally want. I like to be able to talk to my wife if I need to. I enjoy very good rsults from cpap therapy, it is a lifesaver for me. I was told by a RT that possibly my pressure needs to be reduced. I tried my wife's FisherPaykel which is very easily adusted (a little knob on the side and played with reducing the pressure and got good results. I was prescribed a pressure of 14cm of h2o. I believe I am now best treated with 13-13.5. I just can't figure out how to adjust the pressure on this remstar pro animal. I can't afford another sleep study for awhile. Any body out there who knows how to drop the pressure on this thing and can/will expain it to me? Thanks for the time taken to read this post.

I have to use a chin strap - to keep my big mouth shut! I hated the dinky strap that IS covered by my insurance - it didn't work at all. I did find a chin strap that is made of the same stuff as wetsuits that fits around my whole head - and it works great.

It's called "Ruby Red" chin strap from Tiara Medical Systems - you can Google it...

BTW I live in Austin and have to use the humidifier, but hate the rainout!

I fogot to mention that I did try the full face mask and that didn't work, either, too many leaks. I will look into that "ruby red" chin strap, thanks snugglebunner.
