I'm no doctor, but what type of machine any person sleeps "better" with can be pretty subjective. Many people do fine with straight cpaps, some do better with the relief on exhalation that C-Flex can give. And some do better on autopaps, with or without C-Flex. A lot depends on what pressure a person is prescribed and how they can deal with the pressure.
I've never used a straight cpap with C-Flex. I've used several different autopaps. The one I use now (Respironics Remstar Auto with C-flex) can be used in any of 4 modes... cpap, cpap with C-Flex, auto, auto with C-Flex. I like it best set in that last mode.
As for whether an auto with C-Flex gives "better" treatment than a plain cpap with C-Flex, it might for some, might not for others, and might give essentially the same treatment for yet others. There's no way to know without trying it.
If a person already likes C-flex in their straight cpap and wants to give autopap a try, that's a good machine to get. Worst case scenario, if auto didn't work well for them, they could always switch the mode to CPAP with C-flex and be using it just like what they had before. There's lots of flexibility in that one machine.
