Dale,
you have 5 different masks?
Save some of that money & buy the Heated Hose.
I had terrible rainout trouble. (I sleep in a 62 degree room)
Since I got the HH, never had a problem with rainout again.
I still get condensation on the mask, but it is a small amount and it never bothers me, compared to the running water I used to wake up to, that was exactly what you described.

The Fischers response sounded like they were making sure they did not promise it would help, and given the USA tendency to sue, I don't blame them. Give it a try.
It's better investment than 4 spare masks!

Actually I have more than 5 - it is that I only use most of the five masks. I have been on CPAP since August 05 and have been looking for a mask that I can wear on a consistent basis. Since I tend to mouth breath I stopped using nasal masks the first few months I was on CPAP and went to full face masks. Each full face mask caused sores or was a total leak fest so I gave up wearing them on a full time basis. What I had been doing is wearing my Ultra Mirage until I was too sore on the bridge of my nose and then switched to Respironics Full Face mask for a day or two. Then I found a dentist that made a mouth appliance for me and was able to get my pressure reduced from 18 down to 10. Now I was able to keep my mouth taped and not have any leaks there so I went to the Swift which caused problems for my nose and then tried the Breeze which was uncomfortable.

I have been trying to find something comfortable and that works well for me all of this since August and while I was working. As I stated earlier in this thread I am off work now for awhile recuperating from surgery and do not have a paycheck coming in to try things that might not work out. Maybe after the summer is over and I get a chance to have a few paychecks under my belt I will be able to get the Heated Hose for myself.

Oh, earlier I made an off the wall comment about using spray on insulation to cover the nasal pillows and I got to thinking that might not be too far off the mark. What I am going to try tonight is this, I cut off the toe end of one of my wife's socks made of a very heavy material. I cut X's over the tops of the nasal pillows where they meet the nares. I made sure to cut off enough so I can keep the exhaust vents clear. To hold it all in place I am using a lightweight rubber band. I tested it and it feels comfortable and will give it a go tonight. I will report my success or failure.

Well I had mixed results with my experiment. Covering everything around the nasal pillows except where they contact the nares kept it completely dry, during the 3 hours I had it on. After 3 hours my nose was so sore I had to change back to my Swift for the rest of the night.

I am confident that I would have stayed dry the whole night. Prior to covering the pillows I could only make it about an hour to an hour and a half before water was draining into my nose. Today I will trim the fabric that was between the pillows causing the pressure on my nares and hopefully sleep comfortably the rest of the night

Good idea!....cpap users come up with the best, if not off the wall, ideas. Proves the old adage correct... necessity is the mother of invention

Dale,

I use a Comforlite 2 with the nasal pillows and until I received my Aussie hose I experienced the exact same rainout symptoms you described. Like you, I was waking up nearly every night from water droplets running into my nose. And, I also wondered how the heated hose could help since my hose usually appeared dry at the same time my pillows were becoming wet.

Well, after 3 nights with the Aussie hose, I haven't had any droplets running into my nose. I even turned up the humidifier heater last night. There has been some moisture visible in the pillows when I wake up in the morning, but rainout has not occurred. Now, 3 nights isn't an exhaustive test, but so far I'm very pleased with the heated hose.

Thanks for the reply Dave. I am glad that you have had good results so far. Would you let me know how it goes for you over the next week or so? I asked DME_Guy to let me know how his heated hose works for him solving his condensation he is having with the Comfortlite 2 also. He just ordered his hose so it will probably be a couple of weeks before he even receives his. I am not in a big rush right now anyway since in am off work. I am hoping with the summer coming that my condensation will dry up until fall comes around and then if it works out with you both I might have the money to buy one for myself.

I received the hose yesterday and used it last night. I would regularly get rainout with the Remstar heater set at 2. I usually have to leave it at 1 which isn't as helpful. Last night, I put it back up to 2 and no rain out at all. The air is warmer and felt comfortable. A great product!

Thanks for the update DME_Guy.

I just got home from my carpal tunnel surgery so I hope I don't embarrass myself being under the influence of the surgical anesthesia.

If things work out and I get back to work in a few weeks I will start saving for a heated hose.

Sorry this is so short but I am struggling trying to type with only my left index finger.
