S9 memory card

Post by rosacer » Thu Feb 14, 2013 11:37 pm

Hi Y'all

I would like to know, which memory card have you bought for your S9 ? Is it a high speed memory card needed or a multi use SD 2 Gb can work? Does a 4 Gb work or it needs to be 2Gb ?

What is that SDHC ? Is that what is needed ? I don't know about memory cards Once I bought one SD for my System One (I can't find it now) and it didn't work.

Thanks

Rosie

Hi Rosie, My S9 Auto has accepted a 2GB SD card and also 4GB and 8GB SDHC cards. Officemax guy told me they don't sell too many SD cards anymore because of consumer preference for the high capacity (HC) SD cards. That's why I ended up with 4GB and 8GB. But they've all worked fine.

This SD card for sale from cpap.com sort of describes what you can use...you can also buy one from Best Buy, Amazon, etc.:

SDHC seems to work just fine, although SD is the "correct" type.

The S9 won't take advantage of any extra memory. It won't even fill up a 1 GB card.

One you've put it in the S9, don't let any other device write data to it. For instance, if you put it in a camera, the S9 will probably barf if you put it back in the S9 and will refuse to use it unless you let the S9 erase the card.

High speed doesn't seem to help.

Buy a cheap card 1 GB or bigger and try it.

There's now an "SDXC" type of card. I don't know if anyone's tried them.

Yeah, I'm guessing isn't easy to find a 1GB SD card anymore, at any speed *smile*. I looked at Amazon, 2GB SD cards are about the smallest ones these days, even though 1GB is good enough. And I doubt that the S9 needs a "highspeed" card, but you have to buy what's out there at the moment *smile*.

Thanks a lot guys

Yes, it is hard to find even a 2 GB card. I'll check eBay, Amazon doesn't sell to me My Stapples (kind of Officemax) doesn't have small cards, we here are only 37 millions people you are more than 350 millions, that helps a lot

I have a multi-use 2GB I had bought for the System One, I put it on the S9 last night and it worked. It was the System One who refused to work with the card I lost, I think I had never tried this other card with it. Cpap.com cards are SDHD, which is different from the one I used last night, maybe it is the System one which need High speed ?

I saw 4GB SD cards less expensive than 2GB, if the capacity doesn't matter I would go with a 4GB.

Thanks for the explanations about cards

The machine recorded the Flow Chart, I hope the problem was only the SD card too full or because I haven't unplug the machine in 3 months. I'll try to find another card only in case or for my system One.

Rosie

I have a couple of old 512MB and 1GB cards if you can't find anything your machine will address
When in doubt, open the case. Remember: If you can't open it, you don't own it!

Prescribed APAP range - 6-10 cm/H2O, titrated at 8.
Current range - 9.0-11.5 cm/H2O - still searching for the magic "zero night" but averaging 2.2 AHI

I'm using a 4 GB SDHC in my S9 and it works fine. I bought my machine from secondwindcpap.com and they said not to use higher memory cards as it can confuse the machine. I know Walmart did sell 2G cards but they only came in a 2-pack.

I'll add one thing from many years of SD card use. Sometimes, one model of device just won't work with a particular model of card. There's often no particular reason like speed, standard, size, etc. The card and device may work just fine in any other combination. Well known, expensive brands don't necessarily seem to be more compatible.

I've come to the conclusion to just try it, especially if the card is cheap.

It's gotten a lot better today in terms of everything working together.

Hey archangel, thanks. That is just what happened with the first card I tried with the System One, the card which I lost. It was a SD from Sandisk. I never understood why it didn't work, I thought it needed to be a SDSH not knowing what the difference was.

I found the same card I am using now in the S9, here is the link

http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Lexar-2GB-S ... 4261362%26

I ordered 2 just in case. I think, If I remember well I bougth that one at Walmart last year.

Be very careful buying an SD card or USB drive from an ebay seller. Google fake SD cards. The market is flooded with fake card/drives from places like china.
They usually fake the high end cards like the 64GB ones, but smaller capacity ones have been known to be fake too. There is software you can use to verify the integrity of a SD card or USB device.

The fake cards do show the advertised capacity when you select properties in windows for example, the capacity will show as 64GB but when you start to use it you will find you can only store a few GB worth of data. And worse still you may think you are storing more and then end up losing data.

I would strongly advise buying your media for a reputable store.
