New CPAP machine occasionally whistles

Post by edwardacampbell@gmail.com » Thu Feb 07, 2013 4:15 pm

New Respironics System One with humidifier. Quieter than the old critter and I love it - BUT, sometimes, though everything seems perfectly fit together, I get a tiny whistle during the switch from inhale to exhale.

Using it only as CPAP. Pressure on inhale only.

Suggestions?

Where is the whistle coming from? The mask, tube or the machine itself? If its coming from the machine itself, can you locate the general vicinity? Are you showing any leaks in your data?

Machine - perhaps gasket between lid on humidifier and water tank body.

Using the gray foam filter all by itself? Or using the foam filter and the white fine filter?

I had the same problem with my PR System One. Turns out something (a paper or a card) had moved close to the filter intake/exhaust on the back. I shifted the machine a little and the whistling stopped.

So maybe fiddling with the machine, or the filters may make it go away.
