AutoSet Spirit question

Hi-

I use a Puritan Bennett Breeze mask with my Res-med Auto Set Spirit. Should I use the "mirage" or "standard" mask setting in the menu?

By the way, I use the Res-med in CPAP mode.

My advice is to select the swift mask.

The purpose of the mask selection is for the Resmed machine to get some input of the fixed-leak rate of the mask. All masks tend to vary.

In fact almost all new masks now come with a little booklet that states the fixed-leak rate graph for that model mask. This data is the fixed-leak from those small holes, measured as liters of air per minute & at varying cms pressures.

I had a case of where a person with a F/F mask complained that an S7 Elite I had provided him, just wouldn't work. 10 mins & it would shut down.

In the end I had him return the machine & I then showed it worked normally but, he had set the mask as Activa when what he had was an Ultra Mirage F/F.

The machine was deciding that he had a big leak when he didn't.

You Breez will have a fixed leak rate of around 25 liters/min at 15 cms (I tend to only know my own cms settings).

The Resmed Swift mask may be close - so if the Swift is on the menu choose it.

Swift is not an option on the Spirit unless it is a newer machine.

I would use the Standard setting with your swift.

Hi-

Thanks for responses. The choices are -Mirage, Ultra, Full and Standard. Since I use the Breeze (by Puritan Bennett) Res-med probably couldn't help me. I've been selecting "Mirage". Those who use the Swift should select "Mirage". The "standard" selection I use for my Activa.

It's a long complicated story but here I am with the Breeze & my Res-Med AutoSet Spirit. I think the choice should be "Mirage"-but not sure.

Any help?

The correct setting for the Swift mask with the Spirit APAP is Mirage. If the Breeze has a ventillation leak close to the Swift, then use the Mirage setting.

I will start a new thread on the issue of mask fixed-leak rates and
am happy to create a web page with the data from as many masks as people are willing to provide the info for.

I have several masks myself so should be able to gather the data for some of them - it is time consuming so anyone else willing to look up their data if not already added to the new thread, that will help us all.

The purpose for the web page will be so that people can identify masks that have the same or similar fixed-leak rates & can use that data on their xPAP if it supports entering a mask name (Resmed machines) or match the internal fixed leak-rate data (such as the PB Knightstar range).

New thread will be called "Please supply your mask fixed-leak rate data"
