First time CPAP User (stomach sleeper)

Post by jbowman0 » Wed Jan 30, 2013 12:53 pm

Got my CPAP yesterday and the first night was a long night. I'm a stomach sleeper and I'm trying to adjust to this. My mask is a nasal pillow one made by phillips respironics. My machine is a remstar pro c-flex+ with system one humidifier. Any tips/support would be appreciated!

Thanks

My mask is the Respirionics Optilife nasal pillow setup too and I love it. I'm a stomach/side sleeper and I do fine with it. I don't bury my face in the pillow though. When I'm on my stomach my head is turned to the side. I use the little clip thing to clip the hose to the top of my headgear so that it stays out of the way and doesn't pull on the mask and I never have an issue. I don't even know I'm wearing the mask once I have it on and I get settled. I've been at this about three weeks now and I'm averaging 8 hours a night on the machine.

I use a Contour CPAP pillows with cutouts but some people hate it.

I was a stomach sleeper but had to switch it over to stomach/side. It works for me and I'm comfortable each night.

I can't get to sleep unless I'm on my back or stomach, and backs are a nono. My mask is an Activa lt and it stays in place very well on my face - it's for "active sleepers", which I'm not, but evidently designed to flex back and forth.

im strictly a stomach sleeper. sleeping on my side is hard to do and also aggravates my pressure points. just need to figure out a comfortable routine to sleep on my stomach with the nasal pillows on

Contour pillow definitely helps but not always necessary depending on mask. I comfortably sleep on my stomach with it and Resmed Quatro FX full face mask. My Sleepweaver Elan is well suited to sleeping on my stomach. No need for the contour but I use it anyway. The Respironics Wisp (nasal mask) is another good one for stomach sleeping. However, it's more prone to leaks when I'm on my side.

I stomach sleep mostly, and I really like the Swift LT or Aloha for the overhead hose routing. It helps when sleeping in those positions.

the slimline hoses from resmed are nice to move around with easily, too.

so last night went a little better i guess a big part of it is having a hose to deal with and the air escape mechanism blows in my face too when sleeping on my stomach. i tried the falcon position with not much luck. maybe all it will take will be patience and time. got up with big imprint on once side of my face and my nose was a little sore from burying the mask into the bed i guess. any other feedback is greatly appreciated.

thanks
