Aveo TSD Dental Device?

Post by tearendt » Wed Jan 23, 2013 7:19 pm

Has anyone had any successful results with this device? http://www.glidewelldental.com/dentist/ ... o-tsd.aspx
I'm still looking for a solution to living without CPAP during a 7 day rafting/camping trip in May..... not as a permanent replacement.

I've not tried it.

Someone just posted on this one ...

It is only $10 including shipping and you don't have to register for endless nagging spam in order to find out how much it costs.

Just don't go and sell your CPAP right away.

Apparently, 10 bucks may be the amount you don't get back (don't count on any, BTW)
In their "choose payment" box:
BEST VALUE Zyppah Rx – One Payment Just $79.95 plus FREE S&P
Nearly eighty bucks--not all that cheap, but if it works at all,
it might be less annoying than those nose thingies.

The Aveo thing looks like it makes sense to me..... for short time use when CPAP can not be used. I never knew I had sleep issues until I had a knee replacement and the anesthesiologist suspected that I had SA. I never had headaches.... never felt tired.... always got up for work at 6:00am... sleep study clains my SA is severe but my O2 never went under 90%....etc. Now after using APAP for a year I'm use to it and may be dependant. I just need an alternative for my trip rafting through the Grand Canyon for 7 days. If anyone has real experience with an oral device (short of an expensive one) I'd appreciate your thoughts.

Woops ... I never followed the links that far. I just saw the $9.95 and assumed they meant it.

Appears to be somewhat deceptive advertising huh?

I am a back sleeper and to have that pulling my tongue forward was unbearable. I sent it to a fellow in Canada, who wanted to try it and he did not like it either. perhaps if you are a side sleeper.

Just a thought. When congested and having trouble using my CPAP I find if I just raise my head enough I can survive. Perhaps with some sort of inflatable pillow, swimming tube... just do not inflate it fully and your head will be higher as your body will flatten the part it is resting on. Since I am at home, I just use a foam wedge.

I would still look into the battery setup

I've gotten 5 days easily with a 4-5lbs battery that cost $300. You might be able to stretch it to 7 days. Throw it all in a waterproof pelican case and add the cost of the setup to your trip total. Even if it doesn't last the full duration, you're still better off.

My testing -

Battery.... charger.... pelican case.... $400.00. This trip is getting too expensive. I might try the Zyppah and run it by my sleep Dr. at my February follow up appointment. I appreciate the suggestions. The battery setup looks sweet.

... waiting for one of the Chicken Littles to tell him transportation home in a coffin is more expensive.

If it were me, I'd feel like dog poo ever day of the trip; PLUS
I'd be the only one able to sleep at all (I snore THAT loud)

Dog poo? You would feel like a case of chytridiomycosis.

Not buyin in to the scare statements after 64 years living without the machine. Anyway that's what life insurance is for.
