Need hose cover advice

Post by CPAPhope » Mon Jan 21, 2013 10:39 am

Will a hose cover keep the vented air warmer? Last night the vented air was so cold. And I couldn't seem to escape it. I don't think my machine will allow for a heated hose (heaven!) but I wonder if covering the hose will help. Any advice/experience welcome.

A hose cover will help some....but it might not be enough.
What is the model number of your machine? I don't know which machine you are using. Maybe you could add it to the comments section if the machine link is broken.

The humidifier you show in your profile was discontinued around 2007 when the M series machines were released. Is that what you are using?
If so you can use the stand alone Hybernite 2300 and it will help some. The vented air will never feel "warm" but it can sure feel much less cold.

Snuggle hose and Pad a cheek make really nice hose covers....

personally, I prefer the fleece version from snuggle hose.....

I have hose covers but they are for noise reduction from hose hitting headboard.

Get the ResMed hose covers if you do opt for some. Cheaper and they have a zipper. Snuggle hose uses a lint shedding material. I threw mine in the trash after putting them on the first time.

The vented air is always going to feel cool. I don't think you would want to breathe air so warm that the vent air was warm.

Make sure your machine is below your head. It is harder for the water to travel up hill. Sheriff

The Pad A Cheek zippered hose covers are top quality. 3 layers of fabric, fully lined interior, full length zipper, non-shedding micro fleece exterior. Of course, they cost more, but IMHO in this case you get what you pay for..

I tried the Snugglehose, tried the Resmed zippered cover, and ended up giving away both...

I used the Resmed zippered hose cover when I was camping (using the humidifier in passive mode), with the regular slimline tubing, and it worked well for me. Apparently prevented condensation, and didn't have any cold air problem. But that's the only one that I've used.

You left out the fact that this particular hose cover cost $42

You could buy both of the ResMed's slimline and regular hose covers for almost half of this amount. If you were using the slimline hose you can cover it with both covers probably

Oh come on Cosmo....for a dude with mild OSA, you've purchased enough machines, gear, accessories, and gadgets to make our site's sponsor worry that a major new competitor will soon be entering the market!

Phew, Cosmo is back! For a minute there I thought a frugal PAP'er had hijacked your account.

You can fit a slimline hose cover in a regular Resmed cover

My snuggle hose works great... I bought it directly from snugglehose folks. I opened up the packaging, tossed it into the washing machine immediately after it arrived.

Washed it in cold water, regular detergent with fabric softner

I've put it on the regular resmed slimline as well as the climate line hose. There's been no sign of any of the reported issues with lint after 4 months of use.
