A question for the Female Hosers, please!

Post by G00fy217 » Thu Feb 10, 2005 2:11 pm

Ok, guys... if you are looking at this to see what exactly I would like to ask the other females.... Let me just warn you... This has nothing to do with you or men in general.... It is about FEMALE PROBLEMS!! Ok, now with that said........ let's give the guys a chance to skip through this and go onto a forum they can relate to............

Ladies, I have a very weird question. I just started on cpap as of last week. My friend was to have come last week and it hasn't come yet. And NO... I am not pregnant... the last I heard we still need men to get us pregnant (in one form or another). Could my not getting it yet have to do with my being a hoser now? I am 41 (ok, soon to be 42), my mom didn't go through menapause until she was 49, so according to my friends I can't be going through it yet either..... I kinda think it's just nerves right now.... I feel like it's coming, but nothing yet.... OH, and by the way... how can you curl up to ease the cramps with the hoses on you? I usually curl up into a ball to help me with my cramps, but lately with the hose.... it is hard to sleep on my side. Everytime I try to sleep on my side, the damn mask falls off. Any suggestions?

Thank you ladies for taking the time to read my dilemna... and guys, if you are/were still reading this... Boy, you need something better to read than to read about my female problems...
Laughter never killed anyone..... Go ahead, laugh! It's good for you!! ;-)

What do you take us for, exactly? When we saw the subject line, we dutifully skipped over the topic. I for one didn't even read this.

Liam, who's not writing this in response to something he didn't read.

I have three daughters, and a wife, and I teach in a house of women...so anything that helps me understand this species - I appreciate. I have also learned to pee sitting down. Thanks for not excluding me

Friend didn't come by

Post by meister » Thu Feb 10, 2005 3:44 pm

Back in college when I dated lots of girls at the same time, I was always
relieved when their friends came by ...

Now seriously, had you invited the men to join in you may find
out that certain medicines, and things like exercise can have a
profound influence on your friend. My wife runs hard on the
treadmill and her friend disappears. My sister takes a specific
medicine and no monthly visit. So have you changed your
meds or started lots of exercise? Since I am currently going
through male menopause, I feel compelled to co-miserate.
Getting my wife to try Black Cohosh, Evening Primrose Oil,
and Soy has got her hot flashes under control. That advice
came from her husband, who used to be a man before he
started on CPAP. Now no more arousals for me. ...

BE VERY CAREFUL OF SOY PRODUCTS if, AND THAT IS A BIG if, YOU ARE ON ANY KIND OF THYROID MEDICATION. SOY DEPELETES THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THYROID MEDICATION, SO YOU ARE BACK TO SQUARE ONE. BE CAREFUL. ALSO, BE MINDFUL, WHILE SOME PRODUCTS ARE SO CALLED NATURAL PRODUCTS, YOU'D THINK HELP CERTAIN SYMPTOMS, CAN ACTUALLY BE HARMFUL, RAISE B/P'S. I WOULD TELL ANYONE IF THEY REALLY REALLY NEED SOY, GET AT MINIMUM AT TSH THYROID BLOOD TEST, DO YOUR SOY THING FOR A WHILE AND THEN RETEST. YOU WANT TO BE SURE YOU'RE NOT DEPLETING SOMETHING ELSE IN A QUEST FOR NO NIGHT SWEATS. TRUST ME--BEEN THERE, DONE THIS, & SEEN THIS. JUST MY OPINION....

G00fy,

You needed to post a question for the guys only. We all would have scrolled right past it with our eyes glazed over.

"OK, yea that sounds good, whatever you what, I think that sounds good, did you say something?"
Sincerely,
wading thru the muck of the sleep study/DME/Insurance money pit!

Yes Gailzee, My wife is an "expert "on soy. She says avoid it at all costs. It is in everything these days. Corn and wheat also. They dont tell you of the problems Japaneese woman have because of soy. truth is soy is cheap and brings big profits to companies like ADM . Don't buy their BS .

You're probably starting perimenopause. That can start as early as your late 30's. You'll probably skip a month or two and then honey, watch out. It can come again and try to make up for all lost time meaning sometimes they can last as long as 3 to 4 weeks.. Perimenopause can last as long as 10 years but it isn't that severe all of the time. Sometimes you'll be irregular for a few months then you'll be regular again sometimes for as long as a year or so. It's such a fun time in your life. (I'm being sarcastic.) I started perimenopause 9 years ago and have just hit full menopause this year. Sleep apnea has little or nothing to do with it. It's mostly hormonal. I'm 53 now. You've got night sweats and hot flashes to look forward to. I don't recommend any estrogen products. I'm uneasy about taking something that should be decliining in your body naturally but I have some friends that take them and think they're great. Every person has to decide for themselves. Hoped this helped. All of the women in my family for two generations all had hysterectomies so I had no idea what to expect.

OK - now that's funny!

Well, I'm 33 and have been on a CPAP for 2 years now. The last 6 months I have had some troubles in that area, only the opposite. My doctor finally had to put me on the pill to stop my period, then gave me the Depo shot, and Aunt Flo' hasn't shown her face for 3 months! Well, you might think that was a good thing, except for the fact that I have gained 30 lbs!!! I think next time I have a choice, I would beg Aunt Flo to stay!!

But back to your question - are you taking any medications? Been stressed? As far as sleeping on your side - that's the only way I can sleep. When I got the tubing fleece sleeve to stop rainout - it actually made the tubing more confortable...I would recommend even if you don't have a humidifier or a rainout problem.

I want to offer an honest apology for being the first guy to jump in here. I tend to just go down the list and click on anything with unread articles in it, so I didn't notice it wasn't for me until I'd read the post... and felt compelled to make a wiseass comment.

But really, I didn't mean to start a trend or drown out the voices you were trying to hear... Just trying to be my normal, wise-guy self.

Liam, male and yet surprisingly, no balls.
