OT: Politics: Republicans stole $60/month from me

Post by DiverCTHunter » Wed Jan 16, 2013 11:44 am

Just got my first paystub of the year. Thanks to the Republicans demands to get rid of "spending" I now have an extra $60/month out of my check because I earn my income instead of being an hedge banker that makes all their money from "Capital Gains"
When in doubt, open the case. Remember: If you can't open it, you don't own it!

Prescribed APAP range - 6-10 cm/H2O, titrated at 8.
Current range - 9.0-11.5 cm/H2O - still searching for the magic "zero night" but averaging 2.2 AHI

It just put the FICA tax for Social Security back to where it had been 2 years ago.

We were warned about the discount on FICA ending; but my check was MORE instead of less.
Then I realized it was because my Flex has been reduced.
So I have more for the moment, but I probably ought to save it anyway.
Hubby wants new hearing aids, and Flex won't cover them both.
--I suspect he'll ignore me anyway.

This is a ridiculous comment...It was the Republicans that wanted no tax increases. The 2% reduction was made to be a temporary stimulus. The tax did not go up...it just reverted back to where it was before. When you go to the store and buy a shirt for a 25% sale price...it is a temporary reduction. When the store takes the sale off, they are not raising the price. Your employer did not get a reduction when you did...he continued to pay the full amount. Social Security will run out soon enough...keeping the 2% reduction would just make it run out sooner....Quit crying!

Guess what: the 5% reduction in the capital gains rate and the reductions in all the tiers over $250,000 were temporary as well. That's how a certain burnt-out coke-head with Karl Rove and Dick Cheney's hands up his backside managed to get "his" "cuts" passed.

This is the best example I've ever seen on this board of turning an argument around effectively and honestly (although not without a touch of invective). The Bush tax cuts were likewise only temporary, so no one's taxes went up, some of them just reverted in part. Excellent pwnage.

divide et impera

... still works for well over 2,000 years.
President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

Others made some great clarifying points above so I'm only going to comment on one aspect. How can you blame one party when it was a compromise agreement between the President and the two houses of Congress? Thank your President and your Democratic congresscritter every bit as much... Gotta play fair and honest!

Democrats stole more than that from me, my flexspend account is limited to 2,500 dollars, my deductible went up another 1,500 dollars this year and my biweekly insurance co payment went up as well do to their Obama care piece of garbage

My sentiments exactly !

Do any of the participants in these "debates" ever think they will change the minds of the opposing view?

I do

All jokes aside, if the cost is having to put up with political posts as the result of a board that treats us like adults in discussing self treatment vs. another one that has a different philosophy, that is a deal I will take every time.
