Cloth CPAP Masks
Cloth CPAP Masks
Hi All
I was wondering if anyone has tried the Sleepweaver Advance or Elan cloth CPAP masks?
I currently use an Opus 360 Nasal Pillows type mask and find it to be pretty good, but I would imagine, if they work OK, that the Sleepweaver cloth masks would make for a lot more comfort when sleeping.
Has anyone had any experiences they'd like to share re these masks?
Cheers

Hi simsy
I have not, but plenty on this forum have. If you do a search for Sleepweaver you will get heaps of hits for both the advance and the Elan.
As a general comment, people seem quite polarised by it as it can be a bit more difficult to get leaks under control. Some people love it, some people can't stand it.
You could always try it and see.

Yes, I've tried the SleepWeaver Elan & love it. Only problem is mask comes up a little high for my reading glasses (I read myself to sleep). They have now come out with smaller & larger size masks & I intend to try the small to see if it takes care of that issue.
If you want a soft feel against your face, instead of plastic, you may love this mask.

Ditto with Froggie, suggest you PM n0hardmask, he is very knowledgable with the Advance. Tips, recommendations for additional stuff to make it better etc.

Re: Cloth CPAP Masks
Not only is the Elan more comfortable to me than the Swift FX pillows, but I went from mid-range leak problems to almost no leaks when I switched to the Elan, using the regular size cushion. Still had a few but not near what I did with the FX. Then when I switched from the regular size to the small size, my leaks pretty much totally disappeared. I rarely have a single leak except right at the beginning when I'm putting it on and getting it situated.
While waiting to fall asleep, I don't feel the cloth part of the mask around my nose at all, just the straps.
I'm still interested in trying out the Wisp when it becomes available, in the fabric version, but that's more for curiosity than anything; I'm very happy with the Elan.

There is a video about it if you want to "see" it in action. Search you tube for lanky lefty 27. Quite a few videos about all sorts of cpap stuff.
Re: Cloth CPAP Masks
I started with the Advanced as my first mask last September which I liked-- moved to a medium Elan which I liked more -- and now have a small Elan which has no leaks and lets me see the TV or read a book with no mask interference. I love the small Elan. I married the straps from the Elan headgear to the Ruby "hold your mouth shut" headgear. I now deal with just one headgear; the straps anchor the mask in place and that's all.
The most amazing thing is that I was given the first Sleepweaver by a Lincare person who just arbitrarily handed it to me. It was not the ordered mask; she happened to have it in her bag and one of her other clients had an Advanced mask and liked it. I look upon the whole thing as a blessing.

Alas, it's too late to be homecoming queen.
Re: Cloth CPAP Masks
Thank you all for your responses.
I will have a look at the links as suggested, but I think the comments are sufficiently positive for me to buy one of these masks and try it. The reason I sought these opinions is that these masks, in Australia, are outrageously expensive, so it would have been a lot of money to pay on just a whim. Now I'm a bit more confident it will be worthwhile.
