Has anyone used this product?

Wondering if anyone has any experience with this mouthpiece. Pretty expensive little piece of plastic ($100), but if it works instead of a chinstrap...

For a hundred bucks, they don't even have SIZES?

I might think about it to use along with Cpap, but not on its own - snoring doesn't equal apnea or vice versa.

Being that our bodies are so adaptive to overcoming illness and what not, wouldn't you think (if it was a real solution) that our tongues would naturally stick out of our mouths at night??

I do think the oral devices that push your jaw forward are more in line with what our mouths and jaws are obviously trying to accomplish, it just seems like the jaw is already trying to overcome but it just can't?

Hell what do I know??
lol

Sounds like nbf is wondering about this device as an alternative to a chinstrap, not an alternative to cpap. I wonder too. I currently use tape and while it works it is a hassle and of course does have some risks. I wonder if those "wings" on each side of the GMSS would effectively keep therapy air from leaking out of the mouth.

Hmm... it does have that 30-day money back guarantee.

I'm assuming this product is meant to keep air from exiting the mouth, which is why I wonder whether it would work instead of a chin strap.
The "one size" alerts me too.

It is almost certainly a tongue retaining device, which uses suction to keep the tongue pulled forward so that it doesn't fall back and block the airway.

The Aveo is another such device, with different design. I had one. It hurt the underside of my tongue something awful.

I'm pretty sure this device is meant for the tongue to stick out of the device. I'm scared of biting down on tongue and die from bleeding out.

I wonder what the markup is on that thing. It looks like something that you could have made in China for about 35 cents.

True, but it seems that the web site claims that it will treat sleep apnea and they claim a better response rate than the 50-70% effectiveness of dental appliances

I guess these devices (that hold the tongue between the teeth) all allow air to exit the mouth (why else would you want to keep the back of the tongue from blocking the airway?) So, not a replacement for a chin strap. Oh well, thank you all for your comments.

Well there you go. An easy business opportunity for you. Sell your model at a 100% markup (70 cents) and be flooded by profits.

My thoughts exactly.

For the last two years during wake time, my tongue stays constantly planted on the top of my mouth right behind my front teeth. At night, my cheeks relax and the leaks start. I guess there's too much space between my uppers and lowers with my slight overbite.

At least they claim a money back guarantee. The Aveo I just got has no such guarantee.

The concept is sound, however, at least for me. It basically accomplishes the same as pulling the mandible forward; the back of the tongue is yanked from sagging against the back of your throat. If you brux like me, then you no longer need to wear a guard.

I wish someone could invent something cheaper; I've used the Aveo for only a few days, and already it seems its starting to get misshapen.

I'm considering getting a tongue piercing and rigging some kind of restraining device for my errant tongue.
