S9 vs. System One

S( PROBLEM

I am new my third month and S9 is great but the DR says he cannot down load the data he needs from it ??? Like how many times I stop breathing ect.

I have both models and now switching to Newer System Resper one provided by Insurance Company .

I have not noticed mush of a difference....S9 looks better. LOL- Dr saw both units and said he prefers the S9 ( .... nurse said it has more bells and whistles. The resper - one though is newer and I guess has a way to collect more Data.

IF anyone can get me the right Software let me know.. I had 93 % compliance and my setting is 9lbs

Comparing the two brands seems much less significant than comparisons
between "bricks" and full data machines of either brand.
Every patient (and often the doctors, too) need to see this BEFORE it is too late!

We may argue about the equivalent of Fords vs Chevy's, but it's not really that important.

I've used both the PR system one and the S9. I slightly preferred the PR.
I ended up buying the S9, since my insurance was picking up the majority of the cost, I decided to go for the Cadillac version. If/when I decide to buy a backup machine. I will buy the PR out of pocket.

Can you tell us which S9 you have? There is the S9 Escape, Elite and Autoset. The model names are printed around the power on/off button

True dat. Even more important is the mask... it's fit, lack of leaks, and comfort. I am convinced the mask is THE single most important factor in cpap success.

I have used an S8 (5 years) and a System One (a year and a half). Really, very little difference in the therapy in my perceptions. The S8 was 'fancier,' more of a luxury machine with some very nice features, and I liked it a lot; but the System One has provided good therapy as well. The S8 had much more complete data available on screen. Where the System One excels is in the humidifier chamber being easily cleanable (though the S9 seems to have upgraded to this now), and above all, in the power requirements for battery operation or camping/emergency power. The ResMed machines are exceedingly picky in their power requirements and have non-standard arrangements in their power connectors. The Respironics units are dead simple to power from batteries and cars. If you live in an area prone to power outages, or do a lot of camping or travel, this is a significant consideration.

(Note these are both AUTO machines I am comparing. The Respironics unit is the 'simpler' of the two but both are similar in their features. In both manufacturer's lines, the bi-paps are considerably more complex units and the differences are greater.)

Because my first and only System One unit was the bargain basement clunker, REMstar SE, I was extremely disappointed.

What was the display like on the SE? Was it a text display, or just a figure 8 display like on old watches that only showed numbers? Did it show you your pressure or what?

I think I like the S9 Autoset better. I have less bad nights on the S9 than I do on the System One.

My experience is somewhat a comparison of apples verses oranges as I was first sold a System one Apap which I hated and then bought an S9 Vpap S ( which is a non-auto bilevel) that is a night and day improvement over over the system one. The company i bought the system one from has offered to let me trade it in on a system one bipap auto which I will do since I've been using it as a paperweight since getting the S9 vpap but if they will let me I'm going to try to get them to let me trade it in on an S9 Vpap auto rather than a system one bipap auto. While it is comparing apples and oranges, I'd still prefer to go with a RESMED unit.

Not useless since several members chimed in that they have used both.
