Does Kaiser check complaince?

Do they check compliance? Does anyone read the data?

Why do you ask?
Certainly you do not entertain the thought of NOT using it.
Ask the insurance company, someone should have told you already; but maybe the answer is,"no".

Because I want to alternate between machines I will have and see if there are any differences.

Just call the insurance company; there should be a number on your ID card.
(it is often printed very small)
Every plan is different, so that's the only way to know.

I'd call Kaiser Member Services, Cosmo. If they do track compliance it would be for the machine you're getting through them, not the one you're buying yourself -- in which case alternating could be a problem.

I'm too scared to call. It might raise some flags if I ask

I did have the sleep dept write me a prescription for Provent. Its not covered by private insurance so I did pay $62 at their pharmacy for a months worth. If they ask for my SD card, I'll have an excuse at least

It would not raise flags if you called to inquire about this. They would love you for being a proactive and responsible patient: "Hello, I want to make sure I'm doing follow-ups and compliance checks on time, can you tell me what the process is?" They're certainly not going to reply with "Why do you want to know?"

Better you find out and can plan -- chances are you can meet compliance (if they even track it) and still have a lot of free nights to use your other machine. I had to buy my machine out of pocket so I don't really know about their compliance protocols. Janknitz will likely come along with more info about how Kaiser operates.

I just got my Kaiser machine today. Brand new and it looks nice.

I'll try to use it but they didn't give me a humidifier. I'll call to request one tomorrow.

Since I got my machine about 2 years ago from Kaiser I haven't heard hide no hair from them regarding my CPAP treatment. Every 3 months or so I call and get supplies from the DME answering machine and apria ships them out.

It seems odd, since when I had Anthem Blue cross before then, they never checked any data on the machine either but they at least had me come in every 6 months to see how things were going.

I don't THINK they check compliance but I can't be sure. In any case, all you have to do is print out your ResMed data and take it with you if there's a follow up appointment, along with your Respironics card. They'll be happy that you're using your machine, they won't really care which one.

They may check compliance if you are Kaiser Senior Advantage because of Medicare regs--I'm not positive about which things apply in that case.

If you have a modem, you won't necessarily know until they tell you you've lost the machine.

If you don't have a modem, they may tell you to send the card in or bring in the machine and it's too late to do anything.

Kaiser doesn't use modems (they cost money and they don't ask you to send in your card--if they haven't already scheduled a followup appt at the sleep clinic they probably don't check compliance.

Kaiserworld is different than the real world.

Amen to that! In Kaiser World, love them or hate them, we take the good with the bad; there are unfortunately trade offs with all of the providers
