SnuggleHose hose cover, overpriced junk

Post by cosmo » Tue Dec 04, 2012 12:18 pm

https://www.cpap.com/productpage/snuggl ... cover.html

I can't believe they would charge that much for such low quality dodgy product. They are made of cheap felt material.

I used it for the first time last night and it took 15 minutes to get on the hose. Then the hose rubber end had lint inside and out, rendering it useless for the night. 3-4 tube socks stitched together would be better than this.

I believe this is better, but even more pricey.
Karen's products are very well made.

I love mine! I've gone a year without any sort of hose cover because I figured it would be more economical to make something myself, but I've never gotten around to do so. Finally I broke down and bought one, and I love its snuggly comfort. Haven't had rainout since I bought it, either.

If you follow the instructions and place the cellophane wrapper it came in over the end of your hose, it threads quite easily without any lint issues.

I do agree that it's overpriced, but I figure the money is well worth it in my case since I'm just not creative or resourceful enough to come up with something myself.

To each his or her own.

Sewing project: I think I saw a six-foot zipper somewhere; gotta check my fleece remnants, too.

I could make them, too. Amongst my former lives I have designed and made wedding gowns, knitted wondrous things--yada yada--but I love my snuggly color coordinated hose covers. I've got a blue set; my daughter, pink. Do put a piece of plastic baggy over the end and slip the cover on in less than a minute. I agree- to each her own.

I like mine, I think it does the job well, and for $14.00, or whatever, it isn't too bad. You definitely want to use the idea in the instructions to cover the end of the hose with a plastic bag before threading it through. You will find you get faster as you do it more often.

There are other models with a zipper, but those cost more.

Now, when I found out that Snugglehose also wanted $14.00 for a short hose cover to handle the extension with a Swift FX or my Aloha, my frugal-sense kicked in. I was able to buy 1/2 yard of the same fleece material, and I already had some velcro straps and thread, so I hand-sewed my own for under $3.00 in materials. I have plenty of fleece left over. It just needed one simple seam, and then you flip it inside out so no one sees your bad hand sewing. I did the sewing while watching a James Bond DVD. I've been using it for two weeks now, and have washed and dried it once, and it is holding up just fine. I'd do the longer one, but I don't have the patience to make a six foot seam!

I made mine out of prequilted fabric and I put the rubber part of the hose in a baggy and then a rubber band around that and it goes in nice and smooth. I saved about $15.00 by making my own. I also made some padding out of a heavier fleece, not felt. Have a great day, Huggies, Fay

Of course I didn't read the instructions. Who would have thought you needed instructions for a hose cover

Why they didn't go with a lint free fabric is beyond me. I passed over the Resmed zipper cover that was cheaper, in favor of this when I was ordering all of my gear I feel fleeced.

@ cosmo!!

As my dad would always say - only read the instructions if all else fails.

I had bought mine over a month ago to ward the cat off my hose after a mishap during a night when the kitty apparently decided my hose was a snake and attacked it leaving about a dozen pinholes in it. I don't trust even with the SnuggleHose cover on due to it's thickness (or lack there-of) and just general feeling that if the cat still sees it hanging and wiggling during the night, I might be in for another ruined hose and torn up snugglehose cover

I do like the sexy camo color I ordered it in though. And no problem for me getting it on the hose but the only thing is now, I'm afraid of the hassle it will be to take it back off and on to wash my hose.

I see what you did there.

One other thing to be aware of is weight of the hose. I ran without a hose cover for 30 days. While the main reason I choose the SnuggleHose fleece is because it was cheaper than the other options, it also appeared to be lighter. I can surely notice the extra weight, and somewhat the resistance of the fleece on cotton sheets. I don't know that you could go any thinner or lighter and still keep the insulating properties, though, which is the reason for the cover in the first place.

I`ve got the same one, and cannot imagine that fabric giving off lint or any particles whatsoever...

I thought about getting one of those (that one or similar) but haven't yet. Am I correct, though, that with a heated hose, a cover isn't necessary? I think I read that on here somewhere but it's worth double-checking.

I was wondering about covers and geared hoses too. Anyone know?

Also interested in the comments about the cover making the hose heavier and the problem with 'resistance' on cotton sheets.

If I have no problems without a cover do I still need to get one 'just in case'?
