Hi Bill:

To answer your question, No none of them failed! Just tried to keep up with the new tech. and products. I still had the that cpap (res-med) sullivan lightweight up until last year - just keep it around until I donated it to the Katrina relief fund. It still worked great after all those years although much louder than the present machines. I had another one before that but don't remember the model. Started reading on the cpap.com web site a few years ago (before cpaptalk.com) and liked the small PB420G as it seemed to be a good travel machine as well as quiet although it was a fixed pressure unit. It proved to be a great machine and very quiet and easy to travel with, but still a fixed pressure at 18cm H2O! I still use it for travel etc. Then about 2 years later after reading much info on cpaptalk.com which was up and running I came to be more aware of the autos and many of the forum members had and praised the respironics auto w/ c/flex, the PB420 auto and others. I went for the remstar auto by respironics in july of last year I beleive and it proved to be an excellent machine and with some advice by Den (Wulfman) one of our great forum members I was able to set the auto much lower than I thought -13 to 18 cm H2O which made my therapy a joy compared to the fixed high pressure of 18cm H2O all those years even though i had some trouble with the c/flex which can be read in another post I wrote today to Antonio's thread, and had it turned off for the last 6 months or so of it's use. Had the reader, software etc. Then a couple of months ago I went for the Res-med S8 Vantage w/HH. As explained in my other post of Antonio's thread I got some advice from Doug (DSM) another great forum member to help me interpert some conflicting info I was getting between the various machines, and I was able to get some answers that were confusing me. The res-med S8 Vantage has proven to be the best machine I have had, gives the best therapy for me, best (Alogrithim) and is well built and very quiet, even though I've only had it several months I believe it is the gold standard for autos at this point IMO!
Well I hope this info is of help to you and others and of course these are MY opinions only!

Best to all,

Steve,
