Quattro FX for Her
Quattro FX for Her
I like this mask except that I can't get it to seal good at the top - at the bridge. I have the straps tight but it still moves during the night and doesn't keep a seal. I always wake up with a headache. It seems like if there was a way to tilt it in it would work better. I really want this mask to work because other than that it is great. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks, Izzy

There are a bunch of videos on YouTube you might want to watch if you haven't seen them before. Just go to YouTube and search on "Quattro FX fitting". The Quattro FX is put on and worn a little different than other ffm's. It uses what Resmed calls the "swing and seal" technique where you place the top portion of the mask mid-bridge on your nose first and then swing the bottom part down into place. The straps should not be overly tight as the mask is supposed to "float" on your face. If you are getting leaks at the top, you may be putting the mask too high on the bridge of your nose. Like I say, it's supposed to be applied "mid-bridge" near the bony part of your nose. Then when you turn your machine on, the silicone cushion will inflate all around the mask and form a seal. At the top of the mask the silicone will actually kind of bubble out around the bridge of your nose in forming a seal at that point. Something that I do that seems to help too is that I will place a finger on the front of the mask and apply slight pressure on the mask as I turn the machine on. You will feel the mask move slightly away from your face as the cushion inflates and once it is inflated, remove your finger from the mask and hopefully you won't feel any leaks at all. I've used this mask (form him) for over a year now and I've gotten to the point where many nights I'm able to sleep through the night with zero leaks. Another thing that may help is cleaning the mask each morning to remove facial oils and also washing your face each evening just before masking up. Good luck!

Re: Quattro FX for Her
Thanks for your replies. I thought I had been putting it on as instructed, so last night I reviewed the instructions again and very carefully followed them. It was a little better last night. I think that it may be mostly the exhaust bothering me. I hate where it is on this mask. It blows right in front of my eyes which is a problem because I have chronic dry eye syndrome. I have a real problem with it so I might have to give up on this mask. The tighter I have the top straps the higher it goes on my nose, so that doesn't work. I have other masks with the "floating" design and I have never been able to get that to work for me. If it is loose enough to float then it leaks - the loud farting kind of leak. If I tighten it then it is creased and they say that is a no-no. I also have a short face and with the top in the right position, the bottom goes down too far. I have this problem on all masks. As with a lot of people, I have been trying to find the "perfect" mask for a long time - six years. If I could combine features from several different masks, I would have the perfect one for me. I guess I have to think of this as a lifetime adventure.

It sounds like the mask might be too big for your short face. Do you have the size small? I just looked at the Resmed website and it looks like the Quattro FX for Her comes in both small and medium. I also notice your profile says you have a Mirage Liberty. How has that mask worked for you? It's got a smaller mask portion so it might work better if you have a short face.

check out this blog... "Taming the Mirage Quattro".

While the majority of it refers to the ResMed Quattro, there are a number of tools & suggestions in there that you can use on the Quattro FX to solve leaks, etc..

I may have been tempted to try this mask if they had made a Petite,
even though the regular Quattro petite is too small.
All water under the bridge now. (Nice and shady here, oh, look a damsel fly!)

Yes, all masks are too long for my face. It is a small. I do like the Mirage Liberty. It is a little long but doable. I will probably get that one again next time. My cushion and pillows need replacing so it is now leaking and I wanted to try the Quattro FX for Her.b360155 wrote:It sounds like the mask might be too big for your short face. Does any full face mask come in a petite? I had a nasal gel mask a long time ago that was a petite, but none of the full face masks I have used do.chunkyfrog wrote:I may have been tempted to try this mask if they had made a Petite,
