Hi everyone, great board and lots of information! I have been on this machine for almost three years now with no major issues save the initial problems getting used to sleeping with the mask on my face. Lately, my machine has started rebooting A LOT. It will go off, then 3-5 seconds later it comes back on. The pressure isn't diminished that I can tell, but I've tried several things such as taking my humidifier off and plugging it into a different outlet. I use a full face Resmed Quattro mask, and am typically a mouth breather although my therapy has helped me to breathe through my nose.
There also is a high pitched sound coming from the machine when I inhale that wasn't there before. My pressure is set at 15.5 - 11 and I'm using the auto setting. I have all alerts off as well as the auto on and auto off both disabled. I have tried enabling them to see if it helped and it hasn't. My machine is out of warranty so my DME isn't going to be any help at all. Frankly, I'm hesitant to call my original physician because he won't do ANYTHING without a sleep study and with the state of my families insurance right now we can't afford it. I mean, if it comes down to it we'll find a way but I was hoping that some of you more experienced folks might help me troubleshoot the problem. I love this machine, and I know it's the older version (no backlit menu, etc..etc..) but would like to keep it. I've been told the power brick can be an issue. I am not getting any type of error code, just the constant rebooting!
Thanks for any help I can get and if anyone needs more info I'll be happy to provide it...

you may want to buy a spray electrical contact cleaner and spray all the little plugs and connectors. it's a cheap fix if it works.

That's a tough one.
This place will attempt to repair a machine....http://www.acbio.com/
You might give them a call and explain what you are experiencing. See what ideas they might have to troubleshoot.
Will your insurance allow for a new machine if this one is broken beyond repair? Have you called them to find out what their procedure is in this type of situation? If you don't ask the answer is "no". Worth a phone call.
Do you have the funds to just purchase online? Like maybe used machine? Secondwind has a used one for about $650.
If you check craigslist ....I have seen the PR S1 model 750 on there at times. Might get lucky.

The PRS1 power connection can be problematic. See if that's just wiggling loose. You might also try plugging into a different wall outlet.

Re: Problem with my Respironics System One BiPap Auto 750p...
Thanks guys! I actually do have the funds to purchase a used machine, and my insurance deductable is 2500, used to be 500 before last year, so as far as they go, I might as well buy used since it's so close to the end of the year anyway and I've only used about 300 of that deductable.
I've plugged the machine into different outlets with no joy, but I just find it funny that the problem seems to happen when the machine is working on the exhale if you follow. The faint whine that I hear when I inhale sounds like an electrical component that is under more strain than usual if that makes sense. I'm going to buy a new power supply and cord to see if that fixes the issue and also spray the electrical contacts with the electrical cleaner (thanks uncle bill, great idea). Pugsy tomorrow I am going to call Aetna and inquire about a replacement since mine is clearly damaged, you are totally right that nothing ventured is nothing gained. My wife works at a pathology lab in the billing department mainly dealing with insurance and is well versed in their practices and she isn't optimistic but heck if they say no then at least I tried!
Archangel I have seen alot of references to bad power connections with this machine specifically...I really think that's the issue!
Thanks for ya'lls input, I've been on my machine since January 2010 and the therapy saved my life. My son was born in Sept. 2009 which is why I took the step of having a sleep study done. I gotta stick around for the little fellow!

If your deductible hasn't come close to being met then even if your insurance will help out, other than helping to satisfy the deductible, if you do the math an online purchase probably would cost you out of pocket much less than going through the DME.
You might check out cpap.com price. They had a deal on the 750 models not long ago because the new 760 models are out now. New with 2 year warranty a little less than $900. You can use your existing humidifier with it or get a new one for another $100.
So if you end up not being able to fix your current machine then you have some options.
Also check your local craigslist. Never know what you might find and also secondwindcpap.com for a used machine.

Well, a new power supply brick is fairly cheap.
Also, you could try a DC power adapter and hook it up to a battery for one night. The DC power adapter is a good thing to have anyway.
