Humidifier still full of water in the morning

The last 2 mornings I've found that my humidifier is still full of water to the maximum level whereas on previous mornings its been almost empty

The bedroom temperature is around 21 degrees C

I use the resmed climate line tube with climate control set to auto and the temperature is set to 20 degrees C

Is my humidifier malfunctioning?
I don't feel any different though eg no dryness

This is normal for the PRS-1 series. The "System One" humidifier automatically adjusts based on the temperature of the inlet air.

I assume the S9 uses a similar technology. Can someone with a Re$med confirm, please.

On the off chance that the humidifier lost the connection with the base, I would unplug the S9, separate the humidifier from the blower, reconnect them and plug it back in. Remember to remove the water chamber first.

The other possibility is that the ambient temperature and humidity in the room is such that the humidifier, if Climate Control is enabled, won't use water if rainout is likely. You can trying turning Climate Control off and regulating temperature and humidity independently to see if that works.

Crank the humidity all the way up, run it for a while, then take out the tank and see if the bottom of the tank is warm.

not sure how to do that but I had the machine off, pressed the button for 3 seconds to enter warm up mode and had the temperature on 30 degrees C - the bottom of the tank did get warm so I gues this must mean its working ok?

but this morning the tank was still full to the max line so it looks like no water was used at all - can this be normal?
I thought i remembered the tank being almost empty one morning a few days ago (maybe I'd forgotten to fill it the night before?)

If you live anywhere near the ocean, or even a lake, it's quite possible the humidity's high enough not to need the machine... I only need mine for a short time in winter because of that.

Have you tried manual settings yet? If you crank up humidifier all the way to 6 you should see some water being used, at the risk of experiencing rainout...

The ambient humidity seems to be sampled by the machine.
I keep a hygrometer by the machine. If it reads around 15%, I can expect to add water before morning.

I've noticed the same thing with my resmed s9 vpap s - especially as compared to the respironics system 1 apap i was using - in the same room using the default settings on both i had to refill the respironics every two days while the resmed gets refilled once a week - i can't say i notice any difference in humidity on breathing

Even if the machine doesn't test the humidity, if the incoming air has higher humidity, less water will evaporate from the tank.

There might be a humidity sensor in either the S9 or in the heated hose. I'm not sure at the moment.
