Need help with ordering a machine

It isn't the end of the world not to have a heated hose. Most rainout can be prevented (should it occur) with some minor comfort items. If it can't...there is a stand alone heated hose (Hybernite 2300) that works with any machine and it will work with the 550. I know because I have one.

Fortunately the machines are 100% covered by my insurance. So the DME would have to replace the hoses for free. I already have a PR150 and I have no problem with the humidifier even if I turn it up to max because of the dry mouth. It was when I had the S9 Resmed Escape that I had major rainout. I quickly got them to switch out that machine. Unfortunately they gave me a "brick!"

I am so grateful for your words of wisdom! I am calling the DME first thing Monday morning and will ask them to deliver the 550!

Right now, the free SleepyHead program doesn't yet work with the 560. The author is planning to fix this, but it's unknown how soon this will happen.

I just received a PRS1 60 auto (560) today and was wondering if SleeyHead has been fixed to work with this machine yet?

Also, will the humidifier off my PR System One REMstar 60 Series Plus CPAP Machine with C-Flex work with the new PRS1 60 auto (560)?

Can't mix a 50 series with 60 series but the 60 series should be interchangeable.

If enabled (default?0) Just press the Ramp button for 5 seconds and you are in mask fit. Also the Auto with A Flex has ALL modes offered by Respronics including Auto IQ mode. All of the modes and how they work are in the Clinical Manual.

My PRS1 50 series machine has mask fit. Just tap the ramp button once. This might vary depending on the version of machine firmware.

Just to be clear, no AutoIQ on the 50 series Auto machine.

BTW, AutoIQ may only be on later firmware versions of the 560 Auto as well.

If you have the ramp feature turned on, it blows air at full pressure so you can check for leaks better.

For instance, if you have your machine set to blow 10 cmH2O pressure, you could use ramp to start at 4 cm. If you fit your mask at 4 cm, it might leak when the pressure goes up to 10. The mask fit puts it to 10 temporarily. It also shows a little indicator to show whether your mask is leaking.

You should be able to watch it to see what pressure it uses.

Ahhhh!! Thanks so much. That's so cool. I personally don't use ramp, I just start at full pressure but now I get it! I'll have to check for the mask leak indicator.

Unfortunately, it doesn't display the pressure during the mask fit. My best guess is minimum auto pressure. I guess I could set it for 4-20 auto and feel the difference, but I'm not sure I'm that interested.

For the S9 AutoSet, mask fit delivers the 95% pressure from the previous night or 10 cmH2O, whichever is greater, if the machine is in APAP mode.

For manual CPAP mode, AutoSet and Elite, mask fit delivers your set pressure or 10 cmH2O, whichever is greater.

No Mask Fit check for S9 Escape or Escape Auto.

For PRS1 Auto, it delivers "a test pressure." I don't know what the pressure is.

PRS1 mask check is only available in Auto mode. Since the user has to manually select ramp each time he starts the CPAP, there's not much reason to do a separate mask fit check in manual CPAP mode.

It would be helpful and make more sense if somehow it would resort to the top level pressure. That way you could determine the mask fit / leakage problem more precisely when your aPAP is set with the range as it might increase to events throughout the night. Oh well... Guess I could test it to be sure. No biggie. Seems a rather useless feature though if it just responds in regards to "ramp" because I can feel how the mask will feel since I don't use ramp by simply turning the machine on for the night as normal without that setting being used.

Now I'm confusing myself.. lol
