Zeo bedside discontinued?

Post by chunkyfrog » Sat Nov 03, 2012 11:23 am

Zeo's site doesn't list any zeo devices except the Pro.
Is it still being made?
Are they discontinuing the Bedside?
Maybe something new is going to replace it.
Now, I think I need to wait to get a second unit--
hubby hogs the one we have, not really--I got it for him.

Bump.
No, I'm not trying to start a rumor; just want to know what's up.

Don't know, but the website does point you to other retailers like Amazon and Best Buy to purchase.
Maybe Sandy has impacted their distribution center?

Curious -- what does the Zeo provide that you can't get from your machine data?

Relative amounts of deep sleep, REM sleep, and light sleep; along with a timeline of the same.
You can see the effects of excess or late caffeine consumption, or a big late meal, as well as what a nightcap (or 2)
does to your quality of sleep. If worn with or without CPAP, you can see the difference, quantitatively.

I really want Zeo to be accurate however i had another sleep study done the other day and the results between the study and Zeo were like night and day. Zeo keeps indicating very high scores and plenty of deep sleep however my study pretty much confirmed the opposite.

Unlike a home glucose monitor, (which compares very closely to professional ones)
the Zeo is not as accurate as lab equipment. It is more useful to reveal trending and cause-and-effect.
Rather than being a diagnostic tool, it is intended to be a trainer.

The granularity on the Zeo bedside graph is quite coarse. I haven't seen the pro or uploaded data to the web site. The eeg deirivation is non-standard and the staging seems optimistic.

Strictly speaking they can't accurately score rem without the eog and emg leads, but looking at the real time output from the raw interface it does at least pick up the eye movements.

A lot more detail is available if you get the raw library and zeoscope, but you have to make a visual assessment yourself, the staging displayed is the same as from the device.

I haven't seen one published but it seems a third part tool could be written that would provide better scoring and finer granularity. I'm not impressed with what you get from the bedside unit's display, but the device seems to have greater potential than is currently exploited.
