Hose leak!
Hose leak!
I've sprung a hole in my hose! I've only had it 2 months so I have no backup. Will this affect my leaks or pressure?? It's a small hole but I do feel air blowing out. Any suggestions? Duck tape?

Re: Hose leak!
Any tape until you get a new hose. No big deal. What caused the leak? I use my hose for a year without leaks.

Re: Hose leak!
Yes, it will affect pressure, leaks and therapy so you want to tape it to eliminate it.
Not the end of the world. Duct tape works great.
Check with your DME...about replacement and insurance...it might be cheaper to buy online.
I recently picked up 2 of the white Performance hoses for $14 and that included shipping. Send me a private message if you want to know where I got them.

Re: Hose leak!
I'm not sure what caused the leak. The hose is 4 years old, but only used the past 2 months. I'm thinking it is just old. I've taped it up for now. I've been thinking about buying a couple 8' hoses anyway, so this just gives me a good reason to do it.

I do!! I have 3 cats, and one likes to eat plastic. But the hole doesn't look like cat teeth marks.. or does it? Maybe I better buy a few extra hoses.

eBay and/or CraigsList are also possible sources for inexpensive hoses. It's easy to see that they are still factory sealed.

Re: Hose leak!
I used to have TWO plastic eating cats. In your case, it could be a claw puncture and not teeth.
I wonder if a hose cover would protect it enough?

It's always good to have a few spares of everything. I swap them out between wash cycles to let the clean one dry for a week, and hopefully kill off the germs.

Re: Hose leak!
Thanks for the advice. I am going to order a couple spare hoses, and try a hose cover to hopefully keep the cat from chewing or clawing the hose.

Re: Hose leak!
I keep silicone plumber's tape on hand to fix any leaks in hoses - in fact, when I get a new hose, I use this tape to strengthen the joint near the ends.
The silicone tape conforms really well to the ridges in the tubing and adheres to itself, no adhesive so it's easy to reposition or remove and reuse.
Cheers,
xena
