2nd night, fantasic sleep.

Post by Josh S » Thu Apr 27, 2006 8:28 am

Last night was my second night with my APAP. I feel like a new me, awake and alert!

Thanks to ufo13 I was able see my sleep data.

AHI 3.9
AI 0.2
HI 3.7

MASK FIT *** GOOD

PRESSURE 8.2 (I'm glad i got the APAP, seeing as my prescription was for 6 and I seem to need 8.2)

QUESTION: I know what AHI is, but what are AI and HI and what are good numbers there?

AI is the number of events identified as apneas, expressed as a rate per hour. HI is the number of events identified as hypopneas, expressed as a rate per hour. AHI is simply the sum of AI and HI to give the total rate of respiratory events (and is in my opinion most comparable to "RDI" in a PSG study).

I'm glad you have discovered APAP (and this forum) and that it seems to be working for you.

Thanks for reminding us "What it's all about" .

Congratulations. I was also fortunate enough to quickly adapt to CPAP usage with no real problems. I've even found that I'm back to getting about 6 hours or so of sleep each night, which is what I normally got years ago. It makes for a much better day now that I don't spend the entire afternoon sleeping at my desk.

I'm still waiting to get all my equipment, but I sure do hope I have the same experience as you.
