My rant lol

Post by Wonderbeastlett » Sat Oct 13, 2012 8:31 pm

I normally don't do this but I had to say something. My husbands sister is getting married and her fiance doesn't believe in medicine or doctors (dont ask me why, I have no idea) and when questioned about having sleeping apnea he just laughed. He falls asleep at work, is overweight and snores which I would say is enough to at least get checked out.

What made me so mad is that he just scoffed when I asked him how he felt. He then made jokes about saying apparently everyone who wakes up with a headache has sleep apnea and I need to stop doing so much research. I told him one of the main symptoms is waking up with a headache, of course everyones different. I have to say this just ticks me off because he basically laughed at the fact that I have it and that basically its fake! I don't care if he doesn't get help, but please have some manners and respect for people who actually try to take care of themselves!

Had (past tense) an aunt like that. Didn't believe in doctors, thought dentists constant picking at your teeth were what actually caused cavities, so they could fill them and make lots of money. Smoked all her life and said since so-and-so lived to be 100 (I think she cited George Burns), then that proves that smoking isn't bad for you. So when she developed cardiomyopathy and quit smoking (cold turkey) she developed other ailments that required pain killers. So she took Tylenol by the handful and died a few years later of liver failure. Because, of course, the safety profile of over the counter drugs is so conservatively arrived at, the maximum recommended dosage amounts to nothing more than just a suggestion.

Nothing kills like ignorance.

Tell yer sis-in-law to take out a BIG insurance policy on him.

You can laugh at his funeral. You might suggest that your sister drive when they go places together.

Tell your sister-in-law to get good life insurance on him. Then give her a nice black dress and offer to take her a singles cruise when he croaks as a wedding present.

Wonder what your sis-in-law sees in someone like that. The thought of spending any time with someone like that raises all kinds of red flags/alarm bells/klaxon horns, etc.

He sounds like a real piece of work/acquired taste.**

Good to see you posting this.

A lot of people don't realize that Tylenol is fairly safe used as directed, but a fairly small overdose can damage your liver.

Natural selection, tragic for those too close.
It still happens, despite our best efforts/family intervention.
Stupid kills; sometime the innocent along with the intentionally ignorant.
Letting go is a hard thing to do, and harder still to know when.

Honestly it's doesn't come as a surprise to me that my sister in law has chosen him. She's been thru so many guys and is fairly young at just 20. She's always thought about marriage so she's been trying to grab every guy who comes her way! I don't feel bad for her because she can make her own decisions. It was partly how she was raised as well. Her and my husbands father never was compassionate about sickness. He was raised by a hypochondriac mother so I guess it's just a cycle being formed!

20? 20? She's just a kid. Setting herself up for a lifetime of hurt.
