New to the forum...glad to be here!
Hello everybody!
I just wanted to introduce myself.
I've been reading these forums for a while now and decided to officially join.
I doubt that I will have any helpful info here since there are already so many folks that are far more knowledgeable than I, but I will kick in my 2 cents from time to time.
It's my pleasure to be a part of such a friendly and helpful community!

Welcome
Welcome .....you will be amazed at the support and knowledge that the people on this board willingly share.
If not for their help, I would not be enjoying the success that I am. I would have given up in frustration.

I agree. I haven't even been checking the other cpap sites lately. (There just isn't enough traffic there, and certainly not enough information.) THIS forum is HOME SWEET HOME for me!Darth Vader Look wrote:Welcome to the PAP side. This is by far the best, most posted to and most knowledgeable forum that deals with CPAP and I don't get paid to say that. Enjoy it at your leisure .

Grasshopper You want to know about other sites A very scaredy thought. Ahhhhh but I will tell you of the other 3 corners of the OSA world you do not know about.
Talk About Sleep This is a very informative board on all aspects of OSA and where I began and still post there. Posting has decreased significantly since not allowing guest posts. A good and bad thing.
American Sleep Apnea Association or ASAA An over moderated board that is not even a year old. I don't even go there anymore. Amigo posted his goodbye to that forum on here not too long ago.
Sleep Net Another forum that has had problems with moderators. There is a post about them on this site as well.
Grasshopper, be careful where you step. As Wading would surely say, there is a lot of muck out there .

It's a great board, if not for it, I never would've tried the mask I'm using now, nor feel a sense of hosehead community. Putting that mask on every night and turning that machine on, even with a partner beside you, is a lonely, isolating feeling. Just knowing there is a bunch of people going through the same thing as you and willing to talk about it, is comforting.
Sleep well,
Jerry

Gidgie,
What our fine spokesman Darth Vader Look means is that there are two huge factors in the quality of CPAP boards:
#1. The level of freedom the administrators allow the users to have.
#2. The level of interest and desire to help newbies the board vets have.
cpaptalk.com's philosophy is to be as loose on the admin as possible and as newbie friendly as possible. Many people like this combination of features and consider cpaptalk the best of the CPAP boards because of it.
That being said, go check out ASAA and TalkAboutSleep and see if you agree with what people are saying here about them vs cpaptalk. At the end of the day, it is YOUR health with YOUR CPAP treatment that matters, make sure you get as many opinions and options as you can.
