Swift Fx for Her--cold/wet air flow?

Post by Sigrid » Fri Sep 21, 2012 3:49 pm

I just switched to a Swift FX for Her (mask with nasal pillows). First night (last night) the fit was very comfortable except I woke up after 4 or 5 hours feeling the air flowing in was very cold and with too much moisture. I had the heater/humidifier set at 2 which was always comfortable with my previous mask (Flexifit Nasal Mask). With the Swift FX for Her mask, it comes with about a foot-long length of narrow tubing to which you attach the main hose. I have a cozy cover over my main hose. Could the length of exposed plastic tubing that comes with the mask be cooling the air too much? I will try turning the heat setting up tonight. What setting do others use with this mask? Thanks!

I found the nasal pillows felt different in terms of heat & humidity than a nasal mask when I first switched to them. Had to add about 1 or 2 on the humidifier setting.

The new S9 climate line seems to handle it automatically, though.

I'm new at this and have not used any other type of mask, but I found that I could not tolerate any heat setting at all (hot flashes ), so I shut it off and I have the humidity set on 1. So far, so good.

Thanks everyone for your advice and comments.

Last night I increased the heater setting to 5. This took care of the cold air problem...but my water tank (about half full when I went to bed) ran dry and I awoke with a seriously and painfully dry mouth. Took me awhile to figure out what happened. So tonight, I will start with a full water tank (I use distilled water).

Another issue last night was that the straps kept slipping down and finally I put my hair in a high ponytail to hold the top strap in place. I am determined to make this mask work since I love how light it is.
