PR System 1 on Battery - Measurements

Post by tmiker » Sun Sep 23, 2012 12:14 pm

Fo those wondering about battery sizes for a backup battery, I measured the amp hours consumed by my PR System 1 running off of 12V battery. Humidifier was ON and set to System 1 Level 2.

Machine:
System One 750P
RemStar BiPAP Auto with Bi-Flex
Mode: Bi-Level
EPAP: 5.0 IPAP: 10.0 cmH2O

Measurements were made with a DC Inline Watt Meter and Power Analyzer that tracks total Amp Hrs consumed along with many other values. Battery is a True Deep Cycle AGM (Werker WKDC12-100P).

Results:
Hours Run: 9.4
Total Amp Hrs: 13.308 (Humidifier ON Level 2)
Avg Amp Hrs per Hr: 1.416
Peak Amps: 5.29

I believe that pressure may have a bearing on power usage;
Have you any data on that?

He is using straight bilevel....EPAP 5 and IPAP 10 so fixed bilevel pressures

My pressures are pretty low, so I would expect more power consumption for alot of folks, but it is still lower than I expected with the Humidifier running. A 20 amp hour deep cycle should probably be plenty for brief/overnight power outages with passive humidifier.
