Anyone Know Med-Care Inc?

Post by Kiralynx » Wed Sep 19, 2012 1:49 pm

Maybe I'm just suspicious, but I just received a cold-call from a representative for this company:

http://www.medcareinc.com/christianhealth.html

who claim to be able to get my supplies for me, etc. etc. etc.

Very pleasant, very friendly, but the call started out with my ostensibly having requested they call, and I haven't. They also had me down as using a nebulizer, which I don't.

I have to say they were a great deal more friendly that Apria, but it doesn't take much to be more helpful than Apria.

Again, maybe I'm unreasonably suspicious, but I don't like cold calls which want personal information.

Has anyone heard of these people? Or dealt with them?

I'm with you. Medicare will pay for the machine, but where do I get it from? Who do I trust to give me the best quality machine and supplies?
Is there an option to check around or just go with who the doctor set up to talk to me?

Please share with me what you have learned about good machines and where to get them.

I don't think you are unreasonably suspicious. I won't talk with sales people unless I've contacted them first. Interesting they had you down as using a nebulizer... where did they get this information? Did you google them?

Perhaps an inquiry with state AG's on pending investigations/charges.
With all states handling miscreants separately, a company could go for quite a while
before having to 'take it on the lam'.
Sure sounds iffy. . .

Well, I asked where they got the information from, and they claimed I had filled out a form. To the best of my knowledge, I have not, but because I am very active in another community, it wouldn't have been impossible for someone else to have found my name and address and signed me up.

The other possibility is that one company which I did fill out information for and which is related to one of the fields this company claims to service, sold my name and information to Med-Care.

I did google them. There are a bunch of med-cares out there....

Unless your line is typo, they've been in existence for ten year. That's not THAT new.

But I agree that the domain expiring in about three months is suspicious.

Just what I need. Another thing to investigate, which I don't have time.

Still, you're right. It doesn't feel right.

I admit that I would like someone more pleasant than Apria to deal with, but....

I would bet that's your answer! Something very similar happened to me. I received an email from a strange company stating a friend suggested this company email me. I actually did know this friend. When I talked to her she assured me she hadn't given them my name and in fact had never even heard of the company.

not a big deal. i have 2 domain names. they expire every year or couple years depending what i pay for at the previous renewal. mine are not automatic. i can give them the info and say to renew it today but the payment and update are not going to go thru the system until the expiration/renewal date.

most domains are usually automatically paid and renewed and the transaction doesn't take place til the day they renew/expire.

If it was me, I wouldn't mess with them. I don't ever feel comfortable when a business contacts me unsolicited. Do you use Apria's 1-800 number (1-800-310-3363) to re-order supplies? I stopped using my local Apria for supply re-orders because they work thru the 1-800 location and the supplies will come from them anyway. All I do is call them, they look up my account, ask me if I want what the same stuff I got last time and I get it a week or so later.

I hate cold callers. Even if they've paid some other company for your address so they can claim they have an existing "business relationship" with you. Or tricked you on some website or business dealing into agreeing to being marketed.

The expiring in 3 months domain is not suspicious.

Sheriff,

I've used the local office. I've used the 800 number. Neither one does very well in terms of accurately filling an order.

They also called me but they told me that they eat any money owed. Apiria always charges me something even though I have a second hospitalization besides Medicare. Apiria says that there won't me a charge and there always is. Does anybody know someone better?
