My first night with Sleepweaver Advance

Post by JaxTom » Wed Sep 12, 2012 5:43 am

Had a CPAP for years but stopped using it because it did nothing. Have been on a BiPap for last 28 days, after getting tritration studies, etc. So have been experimenting with masks, chinstraps etc for last 30 days, and monitoring with Sleepyhead.

Ordered a Sleepweaver Advance and it arrived yesterday. First of all, even though I knew it was going to be light..... I didn't know it was going to be THAT light.

So tried it last night, and it certainly was the most comfortable night ever sleeping with a mask. And this morning, I had my best AHI reading ever. 7.20. And the Obstructive Reading was only 1.76.

So I'm anxious to try this for a few days and see if this is the new norm. But very impressed on Day (night) One.

Well, I've had mixed results on Day 2 and 3 of the Sleepweaver Advance. First it's still ultra-comfortable. (does anyone else kind of like the flow of air? I do). But I had a 22.51 reading on night 2. I had a whole mess of centrals around 6 AM. The OA number was 6.4.

But on night 3 I smashed my best results ever with a 1.89 overall reading.

Welcome to CPAPTALK, and to the community of SleepWeaver lovers. I've used the Advanced just over a year. Trying the éLan now, but in some ways I like the Advanced better.
Having tried out a FFM, I originally got SW because it made sense; and I continue to like it. I have a ComfortLite2 as an alternate, but have a hard time wearing it at night; better for daytime naps when not moving around.
Don't know where you live, but for many of us, the past few weks have been allergy hell; so maybe your numbers have less to do with the mask and more with external factors. Good luch either way.

New Advance here, first night down. Pink!
I like it even better than the Élan for comfort.
Not as much air shooting over my eyelids.
I do wish it was just a shade smaller, but it'll do for now.
Yay, Circadiance!

I've been debating whether to try an Elan also. You would think that since it's their follow-on model it would be a "better" model. But I guess opinion is split. I've never been affected by allergies, so I don't think that is an issue.

I wear a eye mask http://www.amazon.com/Dream-Zone-Earth- ... hpc_text_z to help insure I don't get a stream of air into the eye.

Hello,

I think the mask is fantastic! I mean, if it will work without blowing air directly into my eyes within the next two weeks.

The air blowing actually bothered me a great deal because my nose would get cold, but I've finally gotten used to it.

Most of you have numbers you measure that mean nothing to me. Granted, I usually visit this Board in the middle of the night when I can't sleep. That just might have something to do with it.

I have a machine that won't measure anything and I often think it would be much more effective if I could see if I really slept well and the machine worked the night before. I see there's a post I haven't yet read that talks about a faulty machine. Iim thinking of educating myself a whole lot more and then asking if I can get a machine that shows me some results.

My diagnosis is Severe Obstructive Sleep Apnea but I don't think my pressure is that high at 8. Nonetheless, because I never get REM sleep, the doctor has me on Nuvigil which has helped me start to emerge from this cocoon I've been living in for the past three and a half years.

I truly belive that the girl at Circadiance was being straight with me about why my masks separated on me. And she was young; I'm older and more cynical. I think as their business increases, we're going to see a recommendation on the masks saying to wash them in Liquid Tide because the two companies have or are in the midst of making a deal. More power to them!

Oh, and she said one thing I was personally thrilled about. She said they are working on making a smaller, more petite size in this mask. She said it will be a long way coming. I had asked her if they had a pediatric one and she said they didn't. I figured it might help me because, for example, when I buy glasses I have to buy children's size and when I buy a winter hat (as seldom as possible!), I have to buy it in the children's department. Next time, I think I'll get an Elmo hat!

After recently saying I was a Bella Loops person forever, I'm debating whether to try an Elan also. Lately the silicone has been bothering me and I have no idea why. Yes, I've tried lanolin cream... not helping tho.

Any other reviews of the Elan or the Sleep Weaver Advance (tried that mask and didn't like it) would be appreciated by many of us.

Thought I'd report on Days 4-6. Day 4 - 4.71 (Obstructive 0.74), Day 5 - 13.45 (Obstructive was 1.61) Day 6 5.56 (Obstructive 0.65)

Those numbers are way better than I was getting with my FFM, and I am about 99% more comfortable. I am getting a little irritation under the nose from the edge of the mask.
