Just checking in to say hello. I am newly diagnosed and picking up my machine tomorrow. Looking forward to learning from this forum as I'm a definite newbie. Reading some of the posts here tells me I have a lot to learn.

Welcome.
Don't let them stick you with a "brick".
Do NOT accept anything just because it's in stock--that's one way the old bait and switch works.
Try any mask on with your full RX pressure; and if it does not fit--don't settle for less than comfy and non-leaking.
Only sign on the dotted line when everything is RIGHT--not because you are tired and desperate--
they like wearing you down til you accept crap.

Hi Jesse,

Do your homework before you go to your DME. Read the "for the newbie" posts at the top of the page. It will save you aggravation and start you off with a more positive experience.

Chief among the recommendations, as froggie pointed out, DMEs like to pass out the lowest cost machines to unsuspecting patients. If you don't know the difference between an S9 Escape and an S9 Elite you will be unhappy when a couple months into your therapy when "something is not working" and your S9 Escape can't produce any information on your treatment. It is a basic machine that only records hours in use. The Elite or Autoset models will deliver efficacy data that can be used to change your therapy.

Once again, welcome. The people here are very helpful.
