Welcome to the club, Chris! Good to have you!

As Angela (aka AbbyNormal) has no doubt told you, it can be a bit bumpy at first finding the right equipment and getting used to it, but the health benefits are so worth it. And XPAP even helps with enhanced performance of other equipment. (Oh, I had to go there...)

You've found the right place! And before you do get your gear, I highly recommend searching this forum for the "What to know before you meet with your DME" blog post. It is gold.

Nice to meet you!

Tino, you are officially responsible for the disruption in Starbucks that occurred when I read this and laughed so hard that people stopped what they were doing and stared at me. Just thought you should know.

I'm not sure how I feel about being an authority on this particular issue, but... I guess the evidence speaks for itself!

Welcome to the forum, Chris.

I avoided diagnosis and treatment for years. My mom was using cpap, but she wasn't feeling much better. Her machine was loud, and she had nasal masks that scared me. I thought that was the only way to use the machine.

When I finally fessed up and went to my sleep study, it was great. Like you, I slept well, and I felt great the next day. I have never been so excited to go to the doctor. I wanted my new machine NOW.

I am also using a full face mask, and I am really happy with my new personal battery recharger. My nights are up and down as some nights I sleep great, and some nights I don't. But I still feel consistently better than I did before cpap treatment.

You will find a lot of help here, as I am sure Angela has told you. Welcome!

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

Thank you ZooCrew, Napster and Tino... I'm sure the whole process will need good attitudes and humor to get through (like my wife posting my first sleep study photo WITHOUT my permission on Facebook). Holy cow that was popular pic considering it wasn't my finest hour... People we laughing but a lot were very supportive and amazingly I have a lot of friends that are using cpap.

I'll be lurking around like crazy checking out people's thoughts on full masks even though everybody knows you never go full mask (sorry, Tropic Thunder humor).

Of course, there could be fighter pilot night... ahahaha I think I've said too much

First, she comes in here and easily, ... yes, I say easily, ... convinces, ... nay, I say cyber-triple dog dares... many people to post unflattering photos of themselves.

And then, nothing. Nada. For six weeks, I've not seen any postings by Miss AbbyNormal, a.k.a., the pistol-packing-redhead.

I feel used.

I wonder if she got a chance to interview at CPAP.COM? It is a shame not to have heard any more lately. Who knows, I would have added another unflattering photo too.

I've wondered about her too. I know it's common for people to join, get what they need, and then move on. But she came in with such flair and splash, I too was surprised at how fast she disappeared. I hope she's ok.

Don't know why, just thought of this poem.

William Blake. 1757–1827

The Tiger

TIGER, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare seize the fire?

And what shoulder and what art
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand and what dread feet?

What the hammer? what the chain?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? What dread grasp
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?

When the stars threw down their spears,
And water'd heaven with their tears,
Did He smile His work to see?
Did He who made the lamb make thee?

Tiger, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

OMG, totally flashed on an old, famous episode of Dr. Kildare:

The two part Episode of Dr. Kildare that featured Yvette Mimieux was called "Tiger,Tiger." (The title of a famous poem) It was one of the highest rated shows of the year, which I believe was 1963. Miss Mimieux played a beautiful epileptic and she died having a seizure while surfing, which her doctor had warned her not to do.

Oh, the heartbreak! Oh the teenage hormones! Oh, how the ratings soared!

Thanks for the memory! (Dr. Kildare was dreeeeamy!)
