OT: Cancer/Multiple Myeloma

Post by the_nap_ster » Sun Aug 26, 2012 6:12 pm

Hello all,

Last week, my husband (of eight weeks!) was diagnosed with cancer. Multiple Myeloma. It was caught early, but there is no cure, just treatment to try to keep it in remission. If you have any experience with this cancer, would you let me know? And for anyone who is so inclined, would you please include him in your prayers/good thoughts/etc? We are still very much in shock, but we are dedicated to staying positive and doing whatever it takes to beat this thing.

Tiffany

I'll pray for both of you ... My Mother was diagnosed with it, and given up to six months to live ... Passed away in seven years ...

The chemo and radiation seemed to be worse than the cancer as far as she felt, nearly lost her a few times ... Amazing what a few pints of fresh blood will do ...

Sorry to hear, but there is hope. My sister has it. They gave her 5 years to live. That was about 20 years ago !!! So, perhaps with the right drugs, longevity is possible. They were going to give her "the blast" and I didn't match for a marrow transplant, but they decided not to because the drugs are doing "station keeping", little or no progression ! I pray your hubby responds in a like manner. My sister still travels about, is quite active, still living life and sharing the love.

Have hope. I wish you both strength.

Hi Napster,
I am hopeful that your husband's treatment will be swift and successful. You have given me so much information with regards to masks. I hope that my little note will help you both go forward with strength and conviction that he will survive and strive and that you will both live a long healthy life together.
