How long did it take before you didn't feel sleepy during the day. I have use my CPAP machine for only 3 days now and I am sleepy more.

Please register and fill out your profile with your equipment.

For some people it takes time to learn to sleep with the cpap machine. It takes time for your brain to trust "that thing " on your face won't kill you. Your mind has kept you alive by not sleeping deeply for years so it isn't about to step down until it can trust your cpap machine. That can take up to a month or more.

I noticed that there is a software you can purchase to see your results. Do I have to ask my doctor for this?

Add your equipment to your profile or if you don't want to register...just tell us what machine you are using. There may be free software available depending on which machine and model that you are using.
So don't tell us just the brand...need to know the exact model.

Judging from what is written here, most people start to notice some improvement in the first couple of months. Some lucky people start to feel better much sooner. And some of us take a lot longer.

I am a far outlier on the "unlucky" side. For me, the first three to four months of PAPing were a living hell. In spite of wonderful numbers and sleeping all night, every night with the mask, my daytime functioning plummeted and I was feeling substantially worse in terms of daytime sleepiness than before I started PAP. I also developed a severe case of insomnia during that time. Once I started CBT for the insomnia, the next several months were long, slow slog in getting my daytime functioning back up to where I'd been before starting CPAP. But by about 15 months into therapy, I was clearly feeling better physically and (finally) beginning to function better than I had in the last couple of years prior to my diagnosis. And since then, there has continued to be additional improvement in how I feel and function.

SleepyHead will work with your machine.
Look in my signature line for links to Sleepyhead...lower left of this post...be sure to read the User Guide and Glossary.
Free and easy to use.

If you want ResScan which is Resmed's software...it is free also. Here is a tutorial so you can see what is offered.
Sleepyhead is faster and easier to use but you can try ResScan if you wish.

Send me a private message if you want the latest version of ResScan.

Definitely download your data and run it through Sleepyhead or the ResMed software.

I found it made a huge difference for me because I was no longer in the dark of "is it working?" "did I leak?" "how does it adjust pressure during the night?" "how long did I have it on?". I think that helped my early compliance.

(Plus Sleepyhead gives me a place to record my blood pressure / weight readings that I take a few times per week in it's daily/notes section.)
