Appointment

After 3 months on CPAP I'm going for my first follow up appointment. I have to bring my machine with me. What type of info are they looking for?

Possibly just compliance to see that you are using the machine on a regular basis. Most insurance requires this. Is the follow up with an RT or with a doctor?

Depends on where your going ... They probably assume that your too stupid to know if your machine has a data card in it, and how to take it out! Once they down load it they will look to see how "compliant" you are ... Fours hours per day ...if it is a real sleep doctor that actually cares about helping you, and you have a fully data capable machine ... They will review with you your recorded history and suggest some changes to give you better quality treatment...

If your machine does not have a removable data card they are just going to look at the display to see if you actually used it ... As it should record hours, and days that you used it more than four hours ...

Ask for a print-out of your data (if any)

Yes, compliance and how long you used it each night, how many nights a week, etc. My insurance company requires a minimum of 4 hours a day and 21 days a month, in order to pay for the machine. If you had the machine set up, perhaps they will adjust settings. I go back for my follow-up next week, 6 weeks after I started. My machine has been set for a certain ramp time and a certain exhaust pressure. I will be discussing these with them when I go back. I also have tracked my daily progress with SleepyHead, and would like some help with reading and understanding the graphs.
