AbbyNormal wrote:Yeah, but BLING!!!! Tee hee!! I am sleeping. ZOMG, I'm SLEEPING!!! People, you just don't understand. At most I would sleep two hours at a time before this. No lie. The boyfriend said he didn't know how I functioned. I've done this as long as I can remember though. A nightmare would wake me up and I'd be too afraid to go back to sleep. I'd get up and that would be that. The nightmares have slowed down by about 85% or so. It's crazy. They all told me I had PTSD. (lots of bad stuff in my past) Nope, it was my brain trying to wake me up because I wasn't breathing!!! The body truly is an amazing thing.

My AHI and leaks are still high, but I think when I have new nasal pillows one size up, that might stop. And yes, it's comfy and not scary and just a lifesaver!!!! And the bling is just my way of making something bad into something funny. Keep these pictures and posts coming gang. You don't know what it adds to my day. I noticed one disappeared on us. A pretty blonde lady had posted one of herself with blue tubing of some sort on the side. Please don't be embarrassed and take your posts down (if that's even what happened). This is all in fun and there are a lot of insane masks and contraptions on here. Post up bitchez!! LOL (Sorry, I'm like R. Lee Ermey and kinda' salty, but sweet!!)

I'm glad so many of you are getting a kick out of this thread. It helps to find the fun in this. We should post the morning after pics next. Ratty bedhead and all. LOL Wheee!!

PS- The boyfriend said we could try moving my CPAP stuff into his room and try sleeping together. Wish me luck!!! I'm nervous. VERY nervous. *bites nails*
This is where I wish we had a "like" button!

Also, what size pillows are you using now? Many of us (me included) have enough Swift pillows of various sizes to build a fort with (each new mask comes with one of each size, so the sizes you don't use just sit around). Many of us swap them, or just give them away to good homes. Let us know what you need, and I am highly confident that we can hook you up!

PS: I'm wishing you a night of cuddles with the boyfriend, who's a lucky dog now that he gets to share a bed with you again!

AbbyNormal wrote:Xney, I am LOVING the fact that you are using your CPAP mask face as your avatar!!! Flippin' fantastic! Dude, I'd think your lips would be raw from all of that tape every night. I don't know how you do it.
Nah, I turn my lips inward like pursing them before taping. Also apply mineral oil liberally before removal. I'd rather not use tape but it's the only thing I've found that drops the leak rate! (chin-straps do nothing )
AbbyNormal wrote:BTW, I took the elephant stuff off of my CPAP mask before bed. I love you guys and I did that just for you. I made a simple pad and hose set for myself and I put it on after that picture. Something that wrinkly would annoy the crap out of you after a while but I wanted it to look like a wrinkly elephant. LOL The devil is in the details man. The rhinestones are permanent since I applied them carefully with epoxy glue. It took forever and was harder to do than it looked to make it look nice, but worth it.
Rhinestones and epoxy? lol! So you really do have a bling'd out cpap mask now. That's awesome.

You should post your data from last night! Maybe in your other thread.

I know the premise of this thread was pics and I swear I will get one up sometime. I begin to wonder if people on this thread all have a bit of the bodacious gene in them.<g> Love it.

I am still playing catch up on sleep. Its either the sleep debt having its way with me or the still working full time and sitting all day in front of a computer is just too much for a brain that has been in an oxygen storm for years.

Hose cover. (like that big fluffy gray one>) Need one but mine tend to get cat hair all over them (oh yuck and I loves me cats) Anyone know about non cat hair attracting hose covers and where?

Bling. With my luck I'd get bling stuck up my nose. But ya got me thinking about how to personalize it.

Ab, you truly have done so much to bring us together under a basic commonality. No matter how smart we are. Or how old. Or how whatever whatever, at the end of the day we all have to find a way to make peace with wearing invasive stuff on our face. We have to find a way to have an attitude of acceptance and committment. To pitch till we win. Having fun is such a great way to do it.

I was reading Sloop's old newbie thread and I have to admit, there is a familiarity starting to occurr with having more air/oxygen/whatever available in my full face mask. I am finding little tricks to stay ahead of the leaks (as a side sleeper, for some reason I always put my hand on my cheek almost across my mouth.) At first I didn't want to disrupt the seal, but now I find its a natural way for me to sleep and it actually helps to move the burp back into some kind of new seal position (if that makes sense?)

And lastly, your personality and so many of the others are so playful here and thank god for that.

And your eyes are amazing. (c'mon guys, have you looked at her eyes yet?<g>) Just saying. LOL!

I like to say I have dangerous curves that require advanced driver skill. And I mean it too.

I can imagine a party for this group. Invitations say BYOxPAP. People just laying around with pap machines going, sleeping.

A) Nobody could possibly sleep at any party I'm at. Just. Isn't. Possible.
B) Bitchez be boring in the chatroom here. I sat in there off and on last night and nobody ever logged into it. In reading the few posts there were spanning through the day, nobody uses it. What a pity.
C) Somebody sac up and post another picture already or I'm gonna' pout. You don't wanna' see me sulky. It ain't purty.

Bling is indead the best....read on friends
My little grandneice has had to get glasses and yes...an eye patch! She came home from her first day at school with the eye patch on in tears. My daughter and I happened to be over there for coffee when the little one came in. After hearing the sobbing story, she had an idea...she had heard me talking about Angela's thread and the "bling"..so she took the teary eyed little one into the craft room and started to look for that "bling" she knew was somewhere in there. Well, about half hour later out marched a smiling little one wearing her new "bling" eye patch (glitter everywhere ). Next day after school I made sure I was over at their house to find out "the rest of the story" . In marched a smiling little girl with about 5 or 6 other little girls all laughing and giggling ready to play after school. They all marched into the craft room and later came out wearing paper eye patches full of glue and glitter. ................ I want to thank you Angela for helping (yes you did help) make a little girls life a happy smile instead of a dreary frown. She is now the princess of grade one at her school and the leader of the "bling" clan All this from a thread on cpaptalk by a gal that was afraid to get her therapy in gear....you have not only helped yourself Angela, but others on the forum..and now a cutsy little girl..
I SALUTE YOU ANGELA..YOU ARE THE BOMB
Cheers
Nan
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

Nan, I can't even begin to tell you how this touches my heart. Seriously, tears are swimming in my eyes. Hug that little lamb for me, will you?? How long does she have to wear a patch? I am SO glad she is learning how to take something bad and make it into something better. Even better, her friends are responding and want to be like her! Way to go little lady!! This has just made my entire week... month... you get the idea. I am so grateful for your sharing this. I needed a pick-me-up today!!
