Skin changes?
I was wondering if anyone has noticed changes in their skin after using cpap good or bad? I've been on mine for a month now and I've always had zit prone skin that's very dry. After I took care of leaks from my mask and started wearing it every night I noticed my skin started changing!? I have had one zit in the last 2 weeks and that's it. My dark circles under my eyes seem to not be as dark. My skin also has a general brightness to it.
I'm not sure if the changes are from more oxygen or perhaps just a good deep sleep. I just wanted to know if anyone else has had changes in their skin?

Re: Skin changes?
Your face is being moisturized by the humidity coming in the quattro...nice benefit huh. Your eyes are loosing their dark circles because you are getting so much better sleep....another nice benefit.
Enjoy, you will find more benefits as you go along .

Re: Skin changes?
Before I started cpap the skin on my heels had deep cracks, they mostly disappeared during the first few months. My wrinkles tightened up a bit too. My facial skin looks healthier. After the first 2 weeks on cpap every one at work commented on the fact that I looked much "healthier".

More Oxygen ???.......You are breathing the same air with the CPAP/mask as you would without it.Wonderbeastlett wrote:I was wondering if anyone has noticed changes in their skin after using cpap good or bad? Re: Skin changes?
Probably just better sleep means the body is less stressed.
Though breathing filtered, humidified air is pretty good for it, too

But if your airway is open all night the O2 is getting into the body.More Oxygen ???.......You are breathing the same air with the CPAP/mask as you would without it.

Re: Skin changes?
You bet - my SPO2 levels dropped to 56% pre cpap - so more breathing = more O2 in your system.LSAT wrote: More Oxygen ???.......You are breathing the same air with the CPAP/mask as you would without it.

More oxygen to the tissues: more healing;
fewer stress hormones: less inflammation;
It does a body good.

Re: Skin changes?
I had a problem with my palms. Small bumps would form, and was very ichy. they would break with a clear fluid.
My doc prescribed a steroid cream for years, which helped a little. After 7 years of aggravating with that and now I've been on CPAP since May 2012, it has totally cleared up.
I haven't taken any prilosec Since June; I hardly ever nap anymore; and besides being a power house at work, I've been spending nearly the entire weekends Gardening (for my inner peace), playing golf again and even going out to dinner and drinks with friends, without making excuses to go home after an hour and a half.
And I still only average 4-5 hours on the machine per night (sometimes 2) I've had a few nights at 7 hours. Even if I'm on the machine for a few hours, it's still a miracle cure.
I cannot imagine if I was on the machine and able to sleep 7 hours every nite what I would feel like.

Re: Skin changes?
Cigarbat, you give us all hope! That is fantastic! I don't even know you and you sound great. I'm hoping my cracked heels disappear
To answer the original post, I've not yet noticed any changes in skin conditions and I could use some. However, I wear glasses and prior to Cpap the bridge of my nose around the glass landing area (and the word is....?) was always pretty swollen. So much so that I had it on my list of things to talk to the doctor about this Thursday. Well, since cpap (7/5 started), there's no more swelling. I just haven't recovered cognitively enough yet to recall words I used to know.

I'm glad to hear these stories! I've noticed my skin has changed but also the feeling inside! I guess the only word I can use is clean! Lol my lungs feel very clean and my throat and sinuses feel that way to! I'm liking the extra perks! Lol
