You want this thread. Same problem. It's because it's wireless. You may want to try to return it if you didn't order the wireless model.

I copied your post over to the other thread since all I know about this issue is already there. John might see it there and may know something knew.

I had a similar problem.

The device you have is probably the CSM-50EW, with the W standing for Bluetooth wireless.

When I start mine, it shows firmware 1.4W. I'd expect yours is similar.

Unlike the older CMS-50E non-wireless devices, there is no special "upload" or USB" menu. To upload data, you just need to start the CMS-50EW, and then press and hold the button to take you to the menu. Once you are at the menu, you can connect (via the special USB cable which actually has an embedded Serial to USB chip) to your computer.

Once connected, launch the SpO2 Assistant application. Click on the big icon on the left side of the main program window, and it should scan for, and find your pulse oximeter. If it does, select it from the list, then select the checkbox (down below) to only review data. This should read in the data fairly quickly. Once that is done you are returned to the main window with just the two big icons showing. At this point, chose the icon on the right. This should show you the data files created from your CMS-50EW data. Select a file, and see all the data!

Here is a more detailed instruction manual from the PulseOX store.

Let me know if you have questions.

Good Luck!

John

I would try to return/exchange it if you can, just because even if you get it working with the Contec software, you won't be able to use it with sleepyhead.
I'm wondering if they had a bad batch of 50EW's and are dumping them as 50E's, since you both thought you were getting a 50E.

I'm not sure what to suggest next. If your machine "pings" when you plug in the Serial-USB cord, it is probably finding a device driver. Beyond that - I'm not sure what to suggest, other than trying to install the software from scratch on a different Windows 7 machine and see if you get different results.

You may wish to try to swap the device, and perhaps a "straight" CMS-50E might have fewer issues.

Correct - the oximeter can only save a single session, so if you have finished recording, and want to view the data, you will need to upload it to your computer before you start recording again.

Glad to hear you got it working! I had the very same frustration after mine showed up, but did not appear to to be working as advertised. Like you, I had started searching, and found tons of info for the older software that behaved differently.
