T/F ResMed VPAP Adapt SV = S9 VPAP Adapt

Post by STL Mark » Tue Jul 03, 2012 4:20 pm

I'm under the impression that the S9 VPAP Adapt 36007 replaces the previous generation VPAP Adapt SV 26013. Could others verify and add any differences in opinion?

I'm not sure about that as I have found listing for both a ResMed S9 ADAPT SV and just ResMed S9 ADAPT??

Wonder if any of the places that sell S9 VPAP Adapt SV units also sell S9 VPAP Adapt units? It may be a title that they have assigned since I don't see one on the ResMed site.

I think the VPAP Adapt SV is not an S9; it looks like the old S7 shell similar to the VPAP Malibu. It would most likely use the H2i humidifier.

The S9 VPAP Adapt is the latest model and looks like the other S9s and uses the H5i humdifier.

So yes, I think you're right.

Hi STL Mark,

I'm about as unqualified as anyone to answer your question, but I will try . . .

I believe you are correct.

I own both a 26013 and the new S9. My understanding is that ResMed built the VPAP Adapt SV on the S7 machine. They did not produce a SV for the S8 series. Therefore the 26013 is the model prior to the S9 VPAP Adapt SV. Yes, the 26013 does use the 2Hi Humidifier.

The S9 models are 360X7:

36007: S9 VPAP Adapt SV
36017: The VPAP plus an H5i Humidifier
36027: The VPAP, H5i Humidifier and the ClimateLine Tube

As far as I know the 26013 is no longer available; however, I recently purchased one with zero hours off craigslist.

The VPAP Adapt SV was the older ASV unit from Resmed. The S9 VPAP Adapt is the newer and replacement model from Resmed.

There seem to be some machines that aren't sold online and don't get publicized a lot.

I don't think there's an S9 VPAP Adapt SV in addition to the S9 VPAP Adapt, but there might be.

I called Resmed customer support earlier today and ask them if their was S9 VPAP Adapt SV or just an S9 VPAP Adapt only without the SV. After being placed on hold three times I final got an UN-easy no that there is only S9 Adapt with no (SV).

So I would have to say that there is only the S9 VPAP Adapt model no (SV) even though Resmed them self didn't seem to sure of the answer.

It's sad that you can't really believe the answer you get direct from the manufacturer these days. To say nothing of not being able to understand the accent.

Remember the "Hello, this is Peggy" commercials?

Hi archangle,

Well, this is sort of interesting. I am in Costa Rica right now. When I access the ResMed website: http://www.resmed.com/la/products/s9_vp ... nc=dealers, it displays in Spanish and I couldn't find a link to change it to English. The website displays the machine as: S9 VPAP™ Adapt (without the "SV"). However, in the text is has . . .

El dispositivo VPAP Adapt es un servoventilador adaptativo

Likewise, on the face of my machine it only has "VPAP Adapt" and it is a 36007 model.

So, it looks like (maybe someone should tell THEM) ResMed might have dropped the "SV" from the model name.

Grand-Pap

If you change location to United States & Canada you will have the following in English which is the exact translation in Spanish

The VPAP™ Adapt is an adaptive servo-ventilator specifically designed to treat central sleep apnea (CSA) in all its forms while providing quiet and comfortable therapy. The VPAP Adapt algorithm adapts to the patient’s ventilation needs on a breath-by-breath basis, and is synchronized to the patient’s own recent breathing rate and flow pattern to maximize comfort and compliance.

In France it seems to have another name, I'm not sure it's the same but chances are big time : S9 AutoSet CS
