New Lansinoh ?

Post by rosacer » Wed Jun 20, 2012 7:46 am

Hi

I opened a new Lansinoh 2 days ago. I noticed the color of the tube is light blue now and I find the product is less less thick than the former tube I had. Is this normal? Do they changed the formula? With it I find that my pillows slide over my nostrils like soap . What are you doing now?

When I was using Lansinoh for its intended purpose, I found the Target generic was thicker than the name brand. That was undesirable for spreading on sore nipples but might be helpful for your usage. It's also very temperature sensitive; the warmer it is, the less thick and easier to spread.

Assuming you're buying name brand, you might contact Lansinoh and ask them if they've changed. And perhaps you'll spur them to market a different tube to CPAP users!

You are right tiredmama, the thicker the best it is for the nostrils. Me too I was wondering how the breastfeeding mothers manage to use the old Lansinoh on the sensitive area, I'm sure the new Lansinoh will be very well received.

Thanks for the hint about the Target generic Lansinoh, I will check if I can order by internet. The new Lansinoh, I really find it no good, maybe my nose gets too hot

Kneading the tube quite a bit when new made it easier to spread the stuff, and when it was warmer it was easier too, so I'd do stuff like sit on the tube or tuck it between my legs to help warm it up. The early days of breastfeeding my first child things were so incredibly sensitive ..thank goodness that stage doesn't last long!

It's been a few years since I bought that Target lanolin, but it might still be thicker than the name brand. I don't know if you stuck the stuff in the fridge if it would stay thick enough to clump around your nostrils and stay put when your body heat kicked in? I'm hoping to try a hybrid mask at some point so maybe I'l have to dig out a tub of the stuff.

Does the package say "100% Lanolin"? I just bought some ( expiration date 2016) and it's still the same stuff I've always used.

The thick Lansinoh is a marvel to keep the seal when using nasal pillows, I'm really sad now it is so smooth that I wonder if it's not better to use nothing instead of it.

I will try to find a couple of old tubes in a pharmacy even if I need to make the turn all around. I don't think the new Lansinoh will stay thick enough time if I put it in the fridge, that product is very sensitive to heat.

I did check at Target's internet site, there is something named "Baby Bliss Nipples Cream'' it says it's enriched with avocado, coco and shea butter; I doubt that's the Target generic brand. I noticed we have Target now here in Canada and there is one not far from home, I'll go take a look.

If you find good thick lanolin buy some because it will be excellent for your hybrid mask.

It says: Lansinoh HPA LANOLIN Soothes, softens & protects dry cracked nipples. Ingredient: Lanoline. contains 100% Lansinoh HPA Lanolin- the worlds purest lanolin. (Ultra-pure, USP modified lanolin).

The color of the tube is different, something like light lilac with a light green stripe. My tube was more like a purple tone. This one is very soft you can squeeze the tube in your hand like nothing, you was not able to do that with the old Lansinoh at least it was hot.

FYI - "HPA" is a trademark, I'm not sure it actually means anything meaningful.

Is there more than one kind? I was at a discount store, and I found one that said Lansinoh, but was listed for diaper rash. Is that the same stuff or different?

Lanisnoh is a brand name for many things. The thing you want is lanolin for nursing mother's breasts. Lanisnoh Diaper cream is lanolin, zinc oxide, and dimethicone emollient (moisturizer.) Probably not harmful to the nose, but not what everyone is talking about when they say "Lanisnoh" on here.

Yet another reason to say "Lanisnoh HPA Lanolin" instead of just "Lanisnoh."

I thought it was me. I tried it last weekend and my fx pillows slid around a lot. I thought I put too much on. Here is what mine looks like

Tino2You

That's exactly the same thing I have. My pillows were sliding as if I had put vaseline on my nostrils.

Last night I put a really small amount and it was better but still I will try to check if I'am able to find some lanolin more thick than what Lansinoh HPA Lanolin (the trade mark ) has become today. Lansinoh company has only one kind of lanolin, the other products are for kind of things for babies; I check the internet site.

Hmmm... That's the same one I use and find the consistency to be fine. I think the trick is to make sure you apply a very thin film. I apply with a q-tip and then blot gently with a tissue. I find that when I use it as a lip moisturizer, I can go several hours before applying again. A little bit lasts a long time. Great product!

I got a 7 ounce jar of NOW brand pure lanolin at the health food store for about $4. It's like a paste and will probably last the rest of my life. The lasinoh I saw was about $10 a tube.

Great alterative, Lizistired! Yes, the Lansinoh is a bit pricey for the amount in that little tube.
