Excess Energy

Post by Rapunzel111 » Wed Apr 05, 2006 9:49 pm

I definitely feel the same way you do about the ecessive energy. For me it is a good thing, because I used to see other people enjoying the fact that they had energy and I never did.I used to wonder what others did to have so much energy. It wasn't until I saw my sleep study results on how many documented times I had apneoc/hypopneic episodes during sleep that it all became clear to me.I am now able to work much faster than I did before.
You know,I really wonder if the increased oxegen during sleep from using CPAP fosters giddiness???I was surviving on 85% during my sleeping hours.Maybe our brains are doing strange things to us because we are providing more oxegen to it???Maybe the brain is having to relearn how to function and adapt now that it has more due to years of compensating on low oxegen levels. This is just my thoughts on why I am sort of ''giddy'' since I got on the CPAP machine. What do you guys think?

dunno how you're doing this week, gidgie, still giddy? for me, the giddiness was a passing thing, like a temporary cpap high. i still need less sleep than i used to, but the giddiness may be over.

Hi, girls! Here I am, Gidgie...........Giddy Grasshopper Gidgie......back to her old tricks again......Caroline, a temporary fall from the heights of cpap nirvana does not mean you'll not return to that lofty spire.......Fell on my face this morning I did.......dog got me up at 5a.m., wanting out, and since you don't argue with a Malemute with crossed legs.........well,smarty here decided to pop back into bed.....sans mask....friend woke me three hours later.....sore back, sore head and sore disposition......that'll teach me. I have only myself to blame. HOWEVER.....The disposition, and the head have recovered.......and I well on the way to being my silly self again.

gidgie:

you have the right attitude. i've just had a temporary fall from cpap nirvana, no doubt caused by the fact that i recently don't seem to be able to keep my deviated septum nose de-stuffed for more than three hours at a time, even though i specialize in ayr gel torture, and naturally, i wake up with cotton mouth. so i'm grouchy. but it's just temporary.

Caroline, I have a bit of a nose problem too.....which is why I started out with a ff mask.....never considered anything else.......septum is ok but side of nose (one side) collapsed under weight of heavy glasses when I was a kid. Slightest bit of pressure on it or slightest stuffiness closes it up, and I have but one nare and my mouth to breathe with. Dr.prescribed a steroid spray, said would help with that AND toughen up the tissues in my 'good' one. It helps........have far less stuffiness with cpap than before.......was awfully rough......4-20 before I tuned up my RT/DME.......BTW.......can you folks get Secaris down there? ........up the nose with a Q-tip......good stuff..

gidgie--

sorry to hear about your nose--that must be awful. i'll have to investigate whether anyone carries secaris. not in the grocery, where i buy my other nose junk. we have ayr gel in grocery, and that stuff burns the hell out of my nose after a few days. i also used a nasal saline solution, and that's almost as bad. i'll look for secaris some place else.

gidgie---i just checked and we don't have secaris in the usa. but the active ingredients are found in k-y warming gel/jelly. not the regular k-y, just the warming formula. make of that what you will.

gidgie, dear, the warming k-y gel/jelly is what you supposedly use when you want to give your sex life a little push and nature has made your sex organs a bit dry. the warming part is supposed to give you a little heat in addition to moisture that the regular k-y jelly provides. hey. darned if i know why, but the regular k-y stuff, which is what i think some people here use for their cpap, is made of different stuff than the warming stuff--it's less moisturizing. the warming k-y, as it turns out, has exactly the same ingredients as secaris, and i think it's cheaper, too. i bought a tube tonite with 2.5 ounces for $4.

Here is another product specifically manufactured for CPAP therapy. It is for inside your nose or where the mask rubs. It is called RoEzIt. It available in both Canada and the USA. More expensive than the other 3 products mentioned (Ayr, Secaruis & K-Y gel), but supposed to be "the best" for this and oxygen treatment. Price seems to vary for the 1oz. tube from just over $6 to just under $9. I guess the higher prices are from the DME's . I have included the first google link to it below:
