Well done. Glad to hear things are working out for you. You know it isn't a huge stretch to say that the full time higher pressures caused the itchiness...more air...more dry skin...more chance to itch.
Doesn't really matter though. The important thing is that you are happy now.

Thanks

I am so glad I found this doctor, and the funny thing is: I had this accident last year that started it all. For treatment of all the problems (beyond the apnea, there is much more, such as constant dizzyness) I am visiting 5 (yes, 5...) hospitals. One of them has decided to no longer forward any patients to the 'renowned sleeping centre' but to the doctor I have found, based on my feedback. This is something to like, because now other patients won't be 'arsed' anymore but will get serious commitment from this extremely committed doctor as well. So in the end it didn't work out well just for me alone, but for a lot of other patients in the future as well. The reward of me being so stubborn goes beyond me beying helped, and that is nice.

It would seem to me that there would be a problem w/these other hospitals referring suspected OSA patients to your neurologist is that he has only one APAP and even he doesn't know the pressures to best set it at. I'm sure he can learn the pressure settings most likely to work - but - what about some more APAPs to supply the patients?

He orders new S9 machines from the vendor for every new patient

Only thing is in this banana country where I live hospitals try to lie patients into an automatic CPAP not being allowed by the insurance companies (which is bull, because I called the government in charge which denied completely), as a means of trying to make even more money out of apnea patients (they already have an indecent gross margin, I got the numbers). So doctors aren't allowed by the hospital management to prescribe APAPs. That is the beauty; my doctor says 'screw it', and has an S9 Autoset for patients to try.

I agree that he might dive deeper into the pressure stuff. But then again, I can understand his work load. Being a fulltime neurologist and doing this on the side 'because the hospital wants it', he relies on the results of sleep studies combined with a good machine and tight monitoring of the information the S9 spits out. It might go a little bit deeper, but then again, I rather have a doctor as committed as he is than the complete morons I had in the previous two hospitals, that couldn't care less about patients well being, only about getting their budget goals and doing as many patients/hour as they can.

Oh, yeah. I wasn't being critical of the neurologist. Just that if he had only one AutoSet to loan patients to try out he was very limited in how many patients he could help.
