Internet Radio - Best Sleep Music?
Internet Radio - Best Sleep Music?
I've been checking out a few internet radio stations, some from a thread here several years ago. Just wondering if there's any that specifically are sleep music that I could check out. Found some that sound like they'd put me to sleep but have announcers between songs. Any recommendations?

Re: Internet Radio - Best Sleep Music?
When I have trouble sleeping in a hotel room, I play my ipod with some soundtracks from a few movies. They are mostly instrumental with a few nice songs at the end. I can put it on repeat and be relaxed with the whole thing. Sometimes, I still do not sleep, but it does help me at least rest. I took my ipod with me to my sleep study, figuring if i had trouble, I would ask if I could use it. I didn't need it.
I do not do well sleeping with radio, but strangely I do great sleeping with the tv on, usually to a news station. I do not like waking up in the middle of strange tv programs. One time, I ended up with wrestling. I dreamt that the tv would not turn off with the remote, the button, or even pulling the plug. I woke up and realized that the tv was annoying me for real. I changed the channel. The news usually does not bother me unless some specific people are talking. A couple voices bother me, and a couple people talk too slowly, and that bothers me enough to wake me up.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

I do not use the radio, but I have this great app for my smartphone - Sleepytime. It has multiple tracks from the beach, a distant thunderstorm, to a campfire. They are nice relaxing rythmic tracks that I use sometimes to help me fall asleep. There is a free and paid version in the android market. With music I tend to go to the classical or light jazz side. nothing too fast, just slow and quiet.

I work at a Preschool so I have access to lots of rest time music for the little ones. I've borrowed some of them and put them in my cd player and let it play all night. Yeah I'm sort of old school...cd-player instead of using my smartphone.
Re: Internet Radio - Best Sleep Music?
Although it's not technically music, I've been hearing a lot about using binaural beats as a sleep aid. From how I understand it, binaural beats are perceived beats that results when tones of different frequencies are played in each ear. This perceived beat is of the same frequency that the brain reaches when it is in a state of rest or sleep. Listening to this frequency during bedtime is thought to gently lead the brain past its active state, and into a calmer, more restful state, conducive to sleep. I believe that there are a number of sites on the internet where you can listen to/download binaural beats, but they have to be listened to with headphones.

Re: Internet Radio - Best Sleep Music?
I use a very long Gregorian Chant playlist on my iPod. I have the iPod inserted into an iHome so that I don't have to wear earbuds/earphones all night long. I play the chants at a very low volume. Works wonders for me and hubby likes them too

Might I suggest The Classical Station:
http://theclassicalstation.org/
Their internet streaming service is very reliable. Plus, they offer great gentle classical music throughout the night.
Since in my job, I handled problems that others could not solve, I would use their music as a way to calm customers (I dealt with very frustrated and irate customers, who often would be quite upset over their problems). Those same customers often noted how calming the background music was.

You may have use a translator since it is in Dutch but they have all sorts of different kinds of music.
I play it when I am working on my art work.

Don't even bother with SXM online.
It kept cutting out so often--so infuriating I dropped the online and one satellite unit.

Re: Internet Radio - Best Sleep Music?
I did the research several years ago and found Calm Radio. I've had a subscription for about 2 and half years now.
You can mix ambient sounds with the music or just ambient sounds (atmospheres channel).
Check it out!
https://calmradio.com
EDIT: Just wanted to add that I have no affiliation with Calm Radio, other than just being a very satisfied customer.

President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.
Re: Internet Radio - Best Sleep Music?
I enjoy listening to the audio from classic Dr. Who episodes. It's a leftover from when I was a kid. I used to run the audio from the television into the stereo and record the audio so I could listen to Tom Baker or Peter Davison episodes while going to sleep. Now I have all the episodes on DVD and all the audio files as MP3s so I just listen to them through my phone with headphones.

Pre-CPAP, I would takes my naps to the sound of the TV. Didn't matter what was playing. Now I don't take naps.
At night, I don't need music or any other distractions except for the thousand crickets in my ears (that's what my tinnitus sounds like to me). I always go to sleep in a spring time forest
Who says you can't embrace your troubles:-)
