I'm all about a nap given the chance, kids leave, take the phone off the hook & stretch out just because I can get away with it , good stuff it is.
Always use my machine, if the "juice" goes off (electricity goes out for all you unsouthern folk) I wake up quik, sleep is not very good untill the machine is back in use.

Re: Average hours you sleep ??
I average 9 hours but like it better if it is closer to 10. If I get less than 8 I am unbearable!!
Our bedtime growing up was 9 p.m. and up at 7 a.m. Even as teens if we were home, mom expected us to be in bed by 9 p.m. and it wasn't a pretty sight if you got her stirred up so don't know if that is where my "sleep habits" stem from or not.

Re: Average hours you sleep ??
I have been on CPAP for 6 months. I take a non-CPAP nap for about an hour almost every day. I sleep with CPAP about 6 hours at night (11 to 5 or 6AM) waking up once during the night for a bathroom break, take off mask about 6AM then sleep an additional hour or so before getting out of bed. Just got back from a trip to Austria for 10 days and did not take the machine had the same sleep pattern as with the machine and no noticeable after effects. I continue with CPAP not because I feel any better (and I feel just fine), but because of the silent damage not using it causes.

Ha! I thought I was the only one who takes off the mask in the morning and sleeps another hour.
Sadly, I average about 4-5 hours a night.

Re: Average hours you sleep ??
I always use my machine and I get 6 to 7 hours. I think you would find a correlation with age if you look at it. As you get older you sleep less.
Those looking at past data should remember your cpap doesnt really know when you are asleep.

Re: Average hours you sleep ??
Regarding sleeping without the mask: From what I learned on this forum, CPAP does not register properly when you are not sleeping. Therefore, when I wake up and feel awake, I take the mask off. Sometimes I go back to sleep, sometimes I do not. Also, I find that if I am not sleepy, the mask is annoying.
